xx.10.2023 – Photos by Hans Muskens
The Autumn has arrived even in Nuenen and many animals seem to be looking for nice places for a nap. The Autumn and the Winter are seasons when most animals are not so active – with the exception of polar bears.
Let’s start our tour with curious cheetahs.
Wow! That lady has a fur almost similar to our furs! 🙂
The lynx has made itself comfortable ….
… just like this lovely arctic fox.
This photo is especially for Anke. Maybe you can tell who’s who? Two of them should be the Berliner ladies …
The rhinos had a tender moment.
This is a real wolf hug!
Many animals can live together in peace and harmony. We humans (?) have a lot to learn ….
This magpie has found a perfect ‘watch tower’. 🙂
When a baby is crying ….
…. a devoted mama always manages to calm down the baby. Maybe she sang a lullaby?
One can’t but love the fennek with the cute ears!
The lions don’t hibernate like the bears but it’s a good idea anyway to eat properly!
The brownies should be preparing themselves for the hibernation period …
…. but so far they are awake. The water isn’t so warm now but this sweetie decided to take a swimming tour anyway.
The Autumn leaves are falling down but this brown bear is welcoming the visitors even during the chilly season!
Finally a couple of photos of Wilbär.
I hope there will be at least some snow during the Winter!
Dear Hans! Thank you so much for the lovely photos again!
Dear Hans and dear Mervi!
Thank you for a new update and great photos from the Dierenrijk Nuenen.
I was especially pleased when I spotted Narayani, the armoured rhinoceros that came to Nuenen from Berlin, in two pictures! She is the one in the back of the cuddle picture and I recognised her by her horn because it was unmistakable among the armoured rhinos at Berlin Zoo. Narayani moved to Nuenen together with the other female Jhansi at that time. Jhansi, meanwhile, came back to Berlin and now lives in the new rhino enclosure.
Berlin Zoo has not kept white rhinos for a long time and the keeping of black rhinos, for which Berlin had the studbook for decades, is probably also coming to an end.
The other animals are also a joy to behold! I find the arctic fox, the bonobo mother with baby and the little fennec with giant ears particularly cute and touching.
The bears, whether brown or white, are of course the stars…
Hugs
Anke
🙂 Fein !
Dear Hans,
that’s a great snapshot with the cheetahs and their fur pattern in the dress of the lady!
For Anke, the rhino photos are a nice reunion with your favourites from Berlin.
The other zoo inhabitants are calmly looking forward to autumn and winter,
but Wilbär will miss his snow from Orsa very much….
Best wishes and greetings!
Britta-Gudrun
Lieber Hans!
Danke für die schönen Fotos aus Nuenen.
Die Schimpansenmutter mit dem Kind sind besonders schön.

Now he has moved in with all of us. Autumn. The body has to adjust to the cold season and that is exhausting. That’s why we are all so tired. Humans as well as animals.
Dear Hans, you have posted many enchanting pictures on the subject of autumn fatigue.
The arctic fox is my favorite photo / animal today.
But the chimpanzee mama with her crying baby is adorable.
Above all, I also see many pictures where the animals live peacefully together. The history of mankind is warlike and ruthless. Here we could all learn what peaceful means.
Hugs,
Anita
Dear Hans and Mervi
Over a month since I was able to go to Nuenen so I am very grateful to join you for another visit.
Dear Hans,
Thank you so much for taking me on your tour of Nuenen to enable me to see the amazing animals living there.
They are all gorgeous but I too particularly love both the Arctic Fox and the Cheetahs.
Thank you very much dear Hans and Mervi.
Best wishes to Wilbaer and the other animals in Nuenen.
