Today polar bear lady Berit celebrates her 25th birthday. I’m sure all the readers of this magazine will wish her a very happy birthday!

Yes, the stalker has returned
Berit was born in Denver on December 28, 1998
In 2020, Berit left Denver for Cincinnati where she remained until age 17. In November 2016 she moved to Henry Vilas Zoo.
Berit is currently paired with young Bo.
This was the 2nd time Berit thought about taking a swim while I was there, but young Bo is very rambunctious. Bo is very respectful of this beautiful senior lady polar bear.
Berit has not had any offspring. In 2017 she participated in artificial insemination after the passing of Nanuq (genetically valuable wildborn male). Unfortunately, not successful.
Berit & Bo appear to have a very respectful mother/son type relationship.
Berit did check out the pickle in the pool, but opted to pass on a polar plunge (maybe this week?)

Dear Michelle,
It is so good to see how our lovely girl Berit is doing at Henry Vilas. I visited her often when she lived in Cincinnati, and miss her greatly, but I am happy she has landed in a lovely green place when she can swim and play with her young friends at Henry Vilas Zoo. She seems to have rounded out quite a bit since her Cincinnati Days. She must be quite content. I hope they have a little party for her today, and that Bo has a good time too. He seems to really like her.
