Flocke and Tala in July – Part 1

4.8.2023 – Photos by Pat Waldron

During her visit in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Pat could see very active Flocke and Tala. They had fun together in the water and in the land. In the first part you will meet them in the water.

Tala has already dived into the water.

flo23

Come on, mama! Please, join me!

flo25

Look, I found a ‘flower’ for you!

flo86

The water feels wonderfully refreshing!

flo87

Don’t be a sissy, mama!

flo41

Hmm, Flocke wanted to check the quality of the water first. 🙂

flo36

Isn’t it great we have our Lake Polar Bear so we can really enjoy swimming and playing in the wet element.

flo6

Synchronized swimming 🙂

flo17

Of course, the measuring of the mouth sizes was on the schedule.

flo9

Your breath smells so nice and fishy!

flo10

Flocke and Tala are in very good terms and enjoy each other’s company.

flo11

flo52

I wish Flocke knew that Hope and her kids are doing fine – and even live in the same country as she and other cubs.

flo13

Mama, look what I found!

flo44

flo45

Shall we continue playing on the grass instead of water?

flo18

In the second part you will meet Flocke and Tala gently wrestling.

The photo of Tala’s shower ballet will end this part. 🙂

  2. Dear Pat

It’s just a pleasure to watch Mama Flocke and her daughter Tala splash around together.
Your pictures are wonderful and let you feel the pure joie de vivre of the two.
    Thanks.

  3. Dear Pat and Mervi
I found the comment I made back in 2011 that I hoped one day to see Flocke with cubs of her own. I never dreamt that they would come to England.

  4. Dear Pat,

The second part – now with Flocke and Tala – is also wonderful,
and I can well imagine that Ralph would never have dreamed of seeing Flocke and her children again here in England.
Thank you for allowing us to share in the lives of these bears through your regular visits!

    Best wishes
    Britta-Gudrun

  5. Thank you very much dear Mervi and Pat.
Best wishes to Flocke, Tala, Yuma, Indy, Nobby, Hamish, Sisu and Luka.

  6. Dear Pat and Mervi!
It is certainly a relief for zoos that mothers and daughters of polar bears can be kept together for much longer than used to be the case. It gives them more leeway to look for a new home and a good solution.
Flocke and Tala are a very pretty mother/daughter pair and have a good time together.
    Thank you for showing them!

    Hugs
    Anke
