When I was wondering what the theme for my Christmas related articles would be I didn’t have to think long. PEACE is the first word that came into my mind.
The year 2022 will remain in our memories as a very awful and tragic year. The war in Ukraine affects us all in many ways but, of course, our problems are nothing compared to what the Ukrainian people are going through.
Smetanka in the Nikolaevsky Zoopark hopes the dove will be succesful delivering it’s message!
Zefirka is Smetanka’s mother and even she’s hoping ….
When we see a flying star maybe we can join these lovelies and hope for peace on earth.
The closing of the Orsa Predator Park was a bad chock to all animal lovers. It’s a little comforting to know that the animals are taken care of very well and can stay until they have new homes. Maybe we can hope for a Christmas miracle ….
Hope, Nanook and Noori can enjoy at least one more snowy Christmas.
We have lost many human and animal friends during the year. They will all have a place in our hearts.
For me personally the crash of Knuti’s Weekly Magazine was very saddening. After almost 15 years lots of memories just vanished. Luckily I’ve been able to save some stuff and republish it in this new magazine – now called Knuti’s Magazine.
Our magic bear still is the wonderful source of inspiration!
Sadly our favourite hangout Zur Kneipe doesn’t exist anymore. We Knut fans had so many wonderful meetings there. This Kneipe served as a model for the Knuipe – Knutitour’s blog. What a pity that this cosy Kneipe has become an Asian restaurant.
Despite the tough times I hope we will all have a happy Christmas time. As usual our white fluffy friends have sent us lovely cards.
Antonia is now one of the oldest polar bears in the zoos but she sure looks like a young lady!
Fiete lives in Hungary and has recently moved from the Sostó Zoo to Budapest. We haven’t heard so much of him lately but hopefully the Budapest Zoo will inform us more.
Hertha sends you her best Christmas greetings – even from mama Tonja!
Not so many polar bear cubs this year but in Rostock Sizzel gave birth to twin girls Skadi and Kaja. Christmas time is magic so the young ladies met a very funny looking snowman trio.
In Kingussie in Scotland Victoria gave birth to Brodie – a very cute little rascal.
As far as I know Shauna and Nordi are still staying in Novosibirsk but there are no news of them. We can only hope they’re doing fine and wish them a happy Christmas! The poor animals are innocent and have no part in the war ….
Sisu doesn’t need any presentation because this magazine is filled with articles and photos of him. 🙂 Once again I must tell you how glad I am he came to Yorkshire where he has so many friends now.
Wilbär has found a sledge but maybe it’s a bit too small for him …. 🙂 Whatever, he has high flying plans! 🙂
I want to thank all the reporters, photographers and readers of this magazine a very happy new year! May the year 2023 be a better year than 2022 was!
Liebe Mervi,
Monika
Dear Mervi Dear Monika
Thank you for this Christmas look back.
In the words of my Queen, who left us this year, it was an Annus Horribilis.
As I write there is not even a Christmas truce in Ukraine. An evil man a modern day Herod is still part of the Christmas story.
Christmas is about new light and hope so the image of one little Polar Bear in Berlin who brought people from across the world together is appropriate.
Mervi you have helped keep those friendships together and make new ones with people who love Polar Bears.
Despite everything that happens Merry Christmas is still warming our hearts.
Dear Mervi, I wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Hoppefully it will be better than this one. Also a big thank you to all the work you are doing in Knutismagazine and that you didn’t lost your love and energy with the loss of KWM. All the best for 2023, hopefully the dove will be heard
I wish all readers and you dear Mervi a peaceful and Merry Christmas,
and Happy New Year!
Yes, the year 2022 will remain in our memories as the year in which the world changes. In which a despot invades a country and since then many people have been killed, many people suffer, freeze and starve.
In which war came to our doorstep.
I wish us all a more peaceful future.
Thank you to all who participate in this wonderful forum. Thank you, dear Mervi, for giving life to a new and informative magazine after the hacker attack.
Hugs,
Anita
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Lots of love to all our beloved polar bears.
Dear Mervi,
Thank you for your review with the pretty collages of our beloved polar bears from near and far.
Unfortunately, 2022 will remain in many respects in sad memory and it remains only to hope that the coming year will be better.
You also at this point again a very special heartfelt thanks for your blog work here and in the pub. Although the crash caused you a lot of annoyance, you did not give up and for that we are all very grateful.
Also, many thanks to our reporters at home and abroad who continue to help Mervi rock this magazine.
Best wishes and a Merry Christmas!
Britta-Gudrun
Dear Mervi!
Thank you for the wonderful Christmas greetings. Thank you for the whole work, which you did the whole year.
Hugs
Ludmila
Dear Mervi!
Thank you for this wonderful Christmas page, the dreamlike collages and the good wishes, which I gladly join. It’s great that after the painful loss of Knutisweekly you haven’t given up and have once again created such a beautiful magazine.
We all have similar, if not the same wishes. First and foremost, of course, peace in Ukraine, Syria, Afghanistan and in all the trouble spots of this world.
In short, we all wish for good to triumph over evil. We should not give up hope!
I wish you and all readers of your great magazine a wonderful, relaxed and peaceful Christmas and a good, far better New Year than 2022 was!
Hugs
Anke

That’s a most lovely and entertaining KM-contribution with great photos and as fitting as informative comments/subtitles. Thank you, dear Mervi.
I am happy you gave the opportunity to say one more time “TERVE!” to dear huge SISU this year and also ‘GRÜß GOTTle’ to WILBÄR and all the other lovelies.
