During one of my visits in Berlin Ralph gave me a bag with the text ‘Stay chilled – be cool’. Since then that’s been my slogan – not always very succesfully though. 🙂 Pat visited the six polar bears in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park on the 25th of March and took lots of photos of our giant friends. I thought ‘my slogan’ could be suitable titles for the 4 or 5 reports to come.
The first article is about Hamish and Luka

Hamish has amazingly white fur compared to Luka ….
… who prefers a darker shade of white. 🙂
Hamish took a walkabout in the enclosure.
The rock serves fine as a watch tower.
The Lake Polar Bear looked inviting …….. and the keepers had served his lunch in the lake.
Oh bear, that was a hearty lunch!
After the lunch he found a somewhat worn out little Christmas tree. 🙂
Hamish found the now brown tree quite dull and boring …
… so he decided to have a nap.
Even Luka took a short walk …
… but decided it was time for total relaxation.
Luka found the ‘bedroom’ a better alternative for a nap. Doesn’t his fur match the ‘matress’ perfectly? 🙂
A little pawicure was needed before the trip to the land of dreams.
Once again I wonder who claims polar bears have no facial expressions! 🙂

Dear Pat and Mervi. Thank you bringing the two Big Lads from YWP. After years on concrete in Wuppertal Luka cannot get enough of the grass and mud. Hamish grew up with it in the Highlands

Hamish has become a beautiful bear man with a character head and Luka has put on a lot of weight in the YWP. I always thought he was too thin in Wuppertal.
Now he seems to be very happy… 😉

Ja, Luka hat ordentlich an Gewicht zugelegt und er genießt die vielen Möglichkeiten, die die große Anlage im YWP ihm bietet!! 🐻❄️👌
