The zoo’s activities of the past week in words and pictures. Santa’s babies added some zest to the Zoo’s life ⛄🎄
🎅 The zoo animals had lots of excitement on the Boxing Day. During the quiet and gloomy autumn-winter season, the zoo is not usually crowded. But now, there were ten lovely red Santas, music and cheers, and the crowds were huge. The weather was anything but Christmassy, but that didn’t dampen the cheerful mood.
The Santas are on their way.
Carl the elephant enjoys a pumpkin.
Sheep at the Christmas tree.
The musk oxes, the Santa’s beasts of burden 🙂 , stood with their hind legs firmly against the wall for protection, and watched wide-eyed at the Santa Claus throwing hay-filled willow balls into the garden.
The parrot received a nice Christmas present.
Santa didn’t get to the animals at the Children’s Zoo this time, but they did receive presents.
The Manul and the Amur cat received a set of beautifully decorated cardboard boxes with mice hidden inside as a treat.
Manul Mars is looking for mice.
The Santa Clauses threw both grilled salmons and frozen treats into the water for the polar bears. On the polar bear bridge, the red macaws caught our Anne and gave her a big kiss for taking care of the animals for so long.
The apples and pears hidden in the jerrycan made the polar bears stick their heads inside. 🙂
🥰 A big, big thank you to the Santa Clauses, Santa Mummy, elves and of course everyone who took part in the event and made it so much fun!

Dear Inari, dear Mervi!
These pictures and information make my heart sing! It was the perfect Christmas for the animals at Tallinn Zoo and so lovingly organised by everyone involved. Simply fantastic! The idea of Christmas and the love for the animals were combined in the most beautiful way. And then there are the wonderful photos, which I find very touching, because all the animals, big and small, were given presents and spoilt.
Thank you very much for showing them!
Hugs
Anke
