This time the star of the article is Luka. Just like the other gentlebears in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park Luka loves to chill on the green grass.
He wants to stay agile so some gymnastic exercises are on his daily schedule.
First some stretching …
… and then paws up!

Oh bear, the exerices are really exhausting!
I think it’s wise to take a little nap now.
After a well deserved nap Luka decided to go swimming.
Hmm, the temperature of the water could be cooler …
…. but swimming in the Lake Polar Bear is always fun.
I can’t see my good pal Hamish anywhere now but the birds are my friends, too!
Come on, birdies! Let’s go for a walk together. OK, you can fly!

Thank you for the pleasure of having Luka with me as I relax in bed on a Saturday morning.
He is indeed now a country gentleman in England after his years in Wuppertal with concrete but a deep clear plunge pool which perhaps he does sometimes miss.
His friend there was pretty Anori. I wonder if Luka remembers her at all. Hamish has never known a Polar Bear girl.

These photos also show that the polar bears at YWP are having a great summer and a good time together.
Luka has developed into a handsome polar bear man, has put on a lot of weight and doesn’t seem to miss anything. I particularly like his yoga exercises.

Hello Pat,
Your photos are a wonderful guide to yoga exercises not only for bears. Luka is a charming bear and enjoys his life to the full. He wants for nothing in this bear society.
Unfortunately, we don’t know whether he still remembers his Anori from Wuppertal.
With his sportiness, he also looks after his health, which I wish him for life!

Richtige Sommerstimmung findet man hier (frisch und kühl wirkendes Wasser, grünes Gras) bei den Eisbären im Vereinigten Königreich und ihren gefiederten Freunden, ebenfalls sehr gut aussehenden Möwen und Raben(?). Ich meine reine angenehme Luft auf meiner Haut spüren zu können . . .
