My ‚new‘ year ticket for ZOO BERLIN is of August 2nd, 2023 and that Wednesday was my last visit there – after a long, long break already at that time.
You won’t believe it: I gave it a new try on Tuesday, January 17th, 2024. It was a marvelous cold and sunny day with closed snow cover (partially even iced-up). . .Luckily no bone fractures 🙂
As the majority of the animals was inside (and often invisible) due to the weather, this time I met only few various species and individuals. The more I was happy about those visible and about the beautiful zoo landscape around.
Consequently there is hardly a real good photo from an animal to be found. As kind of a crumb of comfort I show some beautiful ‚view cuttings‘ of the wonderful nature outside.
As far as monkeys/apes are concerned, I have to confess that I most probably mixed-up some names. Please, excuse me. Thank you in advance for ‚the delivery‘ of corrections.

As usual you can find ‚titles‘ to each single photo when clicking in one of them (and then click the ‚i‘ in the column that will open in the right hand side oft he pic then); however, I am sorry for that: it’s only in German and there is a need of getting accustomed to it first in order to being able to really understand!).
AUF DEUTSCH
Meine ‚neue‘ Jahreskarte für den ZOO BERLIN datiert vom 2. August 2023. Und dieser Mittwoch war tatsächlich auch mein letzter Besuch dort – nach einer damals schon sehr, sehr langen Pause.
Ihr werdet es kaum glauben können: Ich hab’s am Dienstag, 17. Januar! Es war ein herrlicher kalter und sonniger Tag bei geschlossener, teilweise vereister Schneedecke. . .Glücklicherweise aber ohne Knochenbrüche 🙂
Da die meisten Tiere aufgrund des Wetters drinnen und oft nicht zu sehen waren, habe ich diesmal nur wenige verschiedene Exemplare gesehen, mich dafür aber umso mehr über die präsenten sowie über die wunderschöne Zoolandschaft gefreut. Entsprechend gibt es diesmal kaum mal ein gutes Foto von einem der Tiere. Zum Trost aber zeige ich ein paar schöne Landschaftsausschnitte.
Was die Affen angeht, muss ich gestehen, dass ich vermutlich einige Namen durcheinandergebracht habe. Das bitte ich zu entschuldigen und möglichst Berichtigungen ‚zu liefern‘, wofür ich schon im Voraus danke 🙂

Bei den Temperaturen und den glatten Wegen in den Zoo zu gehen, ist wirklich nur etwas für Hartgesottene! Und so einer musst Du wohl sein.
Im Gegensatz zu Dir sind die meisten Tiere im Haus geblieben.
Du hast herrliche Wintereindrücke von Deinem Besuch mitgebracht.
Ich freue mich sehr, dass Fatou noch da ist.

It was a great pleasure for me to publish your nice report from the Berlin Zoo!
Despite the cold weather you managed to meet animals. Of course, many of them were indoors.
I wonder if the brown bears are hibernating or if they just prefered to stay in their den?
I love all the animals but I must confess that the cute Buddy Bear is my favourite. I always loved to see them almost everywhere in Berlin. 🙂
Well, the laughing tapir is also very cute and it was wonderful to see little Tilla walking like papa Sango!
The bronze figures are very nice and Knautschke seems to have a golden face.

Concerning the brown bears:
I am very sorry I have to confess I didn’t even try to visit them.
As I had to make the choice to either go towards the apes (FATOU was important for me to see!) or towards the brown bears. I spontaneously decided to first go to see FATOU – and contrary to strong people (as e.g. Ludmila and/or Monika) my body and feet hadn’t enough energy to go back to also see whether the brown bears were out! . . . Guaranteed: I would have liked to see the three new representatives of Berlin!

Ich freue mich für Dich – und uns -, dass Du so viel Sehenswertes vor die Linse bekommen hast und in Deinem umfangreichen Album außer lebendigen Zootieren auch einige Bronzeplastiken, neue Anlagen und Bauten und allgemein schöne Gartenansichten im winterlichen Zoo zeigst. Dein besonderer Blick auf Details macht wieder Freude! Zum Glück haben auch das Wetter und der Himmel über Berlin mitgespielt.
Dieser Zoobesuch war sicher anstrengend für Dich, aber er hat sich gelohnt!
