January greetings from Yorkshire

18.1.2024 – Photos by Pat Waldron

Although the weather is quite chilly in Yorkshire there’s no snow – not yet anyway. Maybe it will come later. For the time being the animals in the park can walk on green fields.

The rangers (keepers) had prepared a nice surprise for their tapir friends.

DikDik is as cute as always!

The painted dogs had been napping …

…. but woke up to meet the visitors.

Of course, Pat even met polar bears during her visit.

Tala is now as big as mama Flocke so sometimes I can’t tell who’s who.

I guess this is Flocke ….

Tala is already preparing things the Summer season. The canu looks amazingly ‘fit’  ….

…. but I’m sure it will have a totally different shape when Tala has finished her job. 🙂

Hamish enjoyed a nice swimming tour in the cold water.

Isn’t this a wonderful photo?!

There are always treasures to be found in the Lake Polar Bear!

Sisu is wondering what to do with the barrel.

Oh bear, I wish it would snow soon! Maybe the two legged creatures wouldn’t be as enthusiastic as we polar bears but some white stuff would be soooo nice!!

I think this is Sisu’s invitation to snow flakes …. Dear snow flakes, come and visit us soon. I would love to feel you on my nose!

  1. Dear Mervi and Pat
I would love to go to YWP but it will have to wait till the weather gets warmer. Sorry Sisu but snow is not my bag. Thanks for allowing me to visit from my bedroom

  2. Auch ohne Schnee sind das tolle Fotogrüße aus Yorkshire!! Und vielleicht gibt es ja bald Schnee zur Freude von Sisu und Co. …✊❄❄❄

  3. Dear Pat and Mervi!
Despite of the cold weather many animals were outside. I am surprised to see the tapirs outside. Flocke and Tala look beautiful. Hamish has no problems with the cold water.

  4. Dear Pat and Mervi!
I wish the polar bears in Yorkshire get snow soon! Sisu seems to be eagerly awaiting it in the last photo. All the bears look well – cheerful and fed – and know how to keep themselves occupied. I’m just afraid that Tala won’t quite fit into the canoe when spring arrives… 😉

I too am amazed that the tapirs, dik diks, lions and African wild dogs, which are normally found in warmer areas, were out in the cold.
Thanks for these great recent pictures

    Hugs
    Anke

  5. Thanks for wonderful pics of wonderful animals accompanied by wonderful words in short sentences (like that and am personally unfortunately not able to do the same what I prefer by far to complicated long statements . . . sigh . . .).

Terve! dear friend SISU. I like the photos of you and will cross my fingers that nice fluffy snow flakes in big quantity will surprise you soon!

  6. Hi dear ANKE B
I had a good laugh after having read the above comments.

Photo of TALA sitting all relaxed INSIDE the canoe
    is eagerly-awaited (ha ha only serious . . .)

  7. Thank you very much dear Mervi and Pat.
Best wishes to Flocke, Tala, Yuma, Indy, Hamish, Luka, Sisu, Nobby and the other animals in Yorkshire.
