Despite the climate change the Winters are still very white and cold in north Finland.
Many birds only stay during the Summer season and then fly to the warmer southern countries. However, there are many feathered friends that don’t mind the cold weather.
Marko has met many sweet Winter birds during his walks in the nature.
This birdie is a white-throated dipper.
Flying during the blue hour
The Eurasian three-toed woodpecker is busy ‘shoveling’ the snow. 🙂
The bullfinch is always a beautiful sight.
These lovelies are common redpolls.
These otters are not birds but they like to stroll around in the snow. 🙂
Although the birds can manage quite well in the cold climate it’s sometimes hard for them to find enough food.
That’s why I hope people will not forget to help our little feathered friends get through the long Winter!

Your walk in the snowy landscape is enchanting.
The white nature looks wonderful. You has many nice encounters on your hike.
Many of these feathered friends can also be found here in the south of Germany.
The only one I don’t know is the Eurasian three-toed woodpecker.
I have not yet seen otters in the wild.
It is very important that we all think of our feathered friends. They need our help in times when it’s just frosty.

Thank you so much for these wonderful winter photos from the snowy north of Finland. I am thrilled and at the same time glad that I am sitting in the warmth and that the heating is working. It’s hard to believe that even tiny little birds can cope and find food in these climatic conditions. I particularly like the bullfinches and the cute little long-tailed tit in the last photo.
