Lunch hour in Novosibirsk

As you may already know Gerda’s twin girls have names now – Belka and Strelka. The names are short and easy to remember – even for someone with my kind of memory! 🙂

It’s been again some very hot days in Novosibirsk so the keepers’ surprises for the polar bear family were served in the water.

Gerda first found a yellow toy …

… but very soon the bears found something eatable, too!

Oh bear, fresh fish! Please, notice Gerda’s nice table manners. I love to see how elegantly she holds the fish on her paw.

Of course, there was fish even for Belka and Strelka.

One of the twins carried her fish to a safer place. 🙂

You should have seen the fish that escaped!!

There was some snow in the stairs – maybe suitable as a fridge for the fish? 🙂

After a yammy lunch it was nice to cool off in the arctic corner.

Of course, we mustn’t forget papa Kai! Doesn’t he look gorgeous?

  2. Even in Novosibirsk, snow has to be brought in for the little bears.
Again, these are charming pictures, thank you very much!

  3. Dear Arkadi, dear Mervi!
Even though the Novosibirsk facility leaves a lot to be desired, the keepers always manage to make the bears feel comfortable and enjoy life. I’m thrilled that they always get their Arctic corner in summer and that the water always looks clean.
My favourite picture is the second one with the little bear standing upright, seemingly listening to a call. Right after that comes the second still, which reminds me of the water rat from “The Wind in the Willows”.
    Thank you for sharing!

    Hugs
    Anke

  4. Hallo dear Arkadi and dear Mervi!

At the second picture I thought the bear had grown. When mom comes into the picture, you can still see how small the twins are!!

Glad the twins have names now; and beautiful ones too!!
Thanks for the update with the nice pictures.

    Hugs,
    Anita

  5. Belka und Strelka, diese Namen kann frau sich merken!!
Die Tierpfleger kümmern sich ja sehr gut, um ihre Eisbärenfamilie!!

  6. Whether beautiful Mama Gerda or the adorable little ones or gorgeous Papa Kai: everyBEAR in Nowosibirsk is especially lovable!

    Thanks for sharing again.
