Today (November,7) I went to Rotterdam Zoo. Thanks to my annual pass from Edinburgh Zoo, my visit was free of charge.
I can’t really tell you which polar bear is who – as no zookeeper was on hand to answer any questions. Generally speaking, Volodya is the boss here in the shop, bigger and stronger and usually has the last word. Volodya is – presumably – the one with the round face.
Nivi & Volodya get on really well.
A gentle bite is also a sign of endearment.
There are many other sweet animals in this zoo.
The red pande with the cute face is loved by every visitor.
Little Ajabu is a big heart melter!
A hyena can look very kind and sweet – don’t you agree?
The smile of this cute lolifantje must melt everybody’s heart!
A napping polar bear is always so peaceful to watch.
Jens’ companion Flocke has found a nice place to rest her paws. đ

Great to be back in Rotterdam Zoo where I started my Polar Bear safari in September. Love the Polar Bear cub and Jens’s Flocke.

Danke fĂŒr die wirklich fabelhaften Bilder aus Rotterdam! Ich bin froh, dass Wolodja und Nivi sich verstehen, auch wenn sie auf dem einen Foto, auf dem sie sich gegenĂŒberstehen, wie die beiden Herren in der Badewanne (âHerr MĂŒller-LĂŒdenscheidt!â âHerr Doktor Klöbner!”) in dem Sketch von Loriot wirken… Beide BĂ€ren haben ein wunderbares Fell!
Auch alle anderen Tiere sehen super aus. Besonders niedlich sind natĂŒrlich die Jungtiere: der lustige kleine Elefant, die Mini HyĂ€ne und das Gorillakind.

Der Zoo in Rotterdam hat mir bei meinem Besuch vor Jahren sehr gut gefallen.
Die EisbĂ€ren haben eine groĂe Anlage auf der sowohl Sand, Naturboden und Gras zu finden ist. Also alles was ein BĂ€r braucht.
Ich habe mich gefreut, ein aktuelle Update der beiden BĂ€ren zu sehen.
Das LĂ€cheln des kleinen Lolifantje ist zum Dahinschmelzen.
Einen HyÀnennachwuchs hatte ich bisher noch nicht gesehen.

Hello Jens,
the bears’ enclosure is versatile and also has a large rubbing stone for the itchy fur, very nice. The toy made of braided fire hoses seems to be one of the few indestructible materials for bears!
@ Anke, your comparison with Loriot’s knobbly men is very apt.

A very nice visit to Rotterdam. The boys seem very happy there. I am glad Wolodja is getting along so well. I last saw him in Ouwehands and he did not seem very happy. Nivi is a good companion. Lovely photos.
