5.5.2024 – Photos by Gudrun (first published 5.5.2016)
When the Spring comes I always remember the meetings in Berlin when Knut was still there. The weather was often warm, the trees and bushes were getting green offering a wonderful ‘frame’ to our visits in the zoo.
Of course, the main reason for the visits was our magic bear Knuti! He was often busy gardening and as a result of his effort his enclosure really was very green – compared to many other polar bear enclosures.
After using his ‘green paws’ he enjoyed a dinner and then it was time for a nap. How peaceful it was to watch the sleeping Knuti. Peaceful and delightful …… I’m happy I could be there sharing those unforgettable moments!

Looking back at 2009 and the time Knuti spent with Giovanna reminds me how precious his short life remains for me.
Mother Ursula was still well enough to let me have a few days in Berlin. They were golden years.

Es war am 05.05.2007 als ich Knut zum ersten Mal, rein zufällig, im Fernsehen entdeckt habe…🐻❄️💝
Seit diesem Tag ist er ein wichtiger Teil meines Lebens und so wird es wohl auch bleiben…🐻❄️💖
Knut als begnadeter Gärtner ist immer wieder eine schöne Erinnerung
und auch in den anderen Posen bleibt er unvergesslich!
