My highly anticipated 3rd visit to Jimmy’s Farm started well by finding Flocke, Tala, Hope & Ewa all together in the largest of the two enclosures.
Flocke was walking along the top of the bank watching both Tala and Ewa in the water.
Tala was playing in the centre whilst Ewa was sat motionless at the edge, watching the water cascade down the bank from a pipe…..with an occasional glance around!
Hope was patrolling the boundary, stopping only to view the pack of Arctic Wolves in the adjoining enclosure.
A mid-morning snack of vegetables thrown over the fence was spotted by Flock & Tala who quickly made a bee-line across for their ‘5-a-day’. They were eventually followed by Ewa but she kept her distance.

After a short wait in the holding pen, mum & daughter then moved into the smaller enclosure in search of more goodies hidden away by a keeper.
Having had their fill, Tala suddenly set off running, with mum quickly following in her pawsteps. Both disappeared into the wood before returning 10 minutes later…..to pose for photographs! (the smaller enclosure is much closer and better for visitors to see the bears without the restriction of a fence).
Hope in the meantime had decided to settle down in the gateway, sadly Ewa was nowhere to be seen.
Flocke & Tala eventually decided to go through to the larger enclosure…..but their pathway was blocked by Hope who was still laying by the gate.
Led by Tala, they slowly entered the tunnel, stood, observed, only to back up, circle the holding pen and try again. The second attempt was exactly the same, they didn’t want to pass by Hope who interestingly never flinched. It really was fascinating to watch.
Mum & daughter then went back into the small enclosure where Tala settled down to chill on the wood chips with mum in close attendance.

Part 2 will be published soon!
Brilliant set of photos Pat, anyone would think you loved Polar Bears!! They all seem happy and content together
!👍👍👍😂xx
Flocke, Hope & Tala look great ! Its funny,
that Tala & Flocke don´t want to pass Hope,
who settles near the tunnel… 😀
Thank you for the photos of “our” girls !
Hope shows very dominant behaviour, even towards her mother. That’s an interesting observation, dear Pat!
Time will tell whether they will become best friends after all.
Many thanks for the lovely photos and detailed observations.
Kind regards
Britta-Gudrun
Dear Pat and Mervi
Jimmy’s Farm is doing a great job as are you. The ladies all look well.I love it that Hope uses the tunnel to block other bears.
Dear Pat and Mervi!
Thank you for this interesting update and the lovely photos! The ladies look healthy and lively, so they are doing well… Somehow it is quite courageous, not to say brazen, that Hope is blocking the way for her mum and her sister Tala. It almost seems like a little power play to me.
Let’s see what happens next…
Hugs
Anke
Dear Pat!
Thank you for the interesting report. Hope was a first child of Flocke and Raspi. I think Hope has Raspi’s personality.
The ladies look very nice and they have a very good enclosure.
Hugs
Ludmila
Thank you very much dear Pat and Mervi.
Best wishes to Flocke, Tala, Hope and Ewa.
