Otis is a brave baby bear

8.3.2024 – Photos by Hans Muskens

We have all waited to ‘meet’ Frimas’ and Wilbär’s cubbie and on the 7th of March the mama bear decided the time was right to present her baby to the visistors and the media.

Otis seems to be surprised to see so many two legged creatures.

The curiousity beats the fear! 🙂

I wonder if the birdie was invited to witness this special occasion …. 🙂

Frimas’ and Otis’ furs have a nice golden colour. Very becoming!

Although little Otis is very curious but he prefers to stay close to mama for the time being.

The green stuff looks interesting …. although mama’s milk bar is, of course, much more interesting for the little boy.

Oh bear, what’s this blueish stuff? It looks very interesting …

Mama said it’s called water and it’s very wet! 🙂

Hmm, do I dare to put my nose in it …

It sure is wet but now I have very clean paws! 🙂

Time to move on!

Herr Wilbär is a cool customer and takes things calmly although I think he must have smelled something new in the neighbouring enclosure.

He decided to take swimming tour to clear the brains and maybe figure out what the smell was.

Bye bye from Nuenen! We hope Hans will visit us soon again!

  1. Wonderful and very cute photos. Little Otis is a special little bear, and we all look forward to more wonderful pictures of him as he grows up. It is nice to see papa Wilbaer too. Thanks to Hans for sharing.

    • Dear Hans and Mervi
Thank you for showing us Frimas and Otis exploring their enclosure. These few months are so special because Polar cubs grow so fast.

  4. Dear Hans!
I’m so happy for you that you can watch a little polar bear grow up again. Otis is so cute and I’m a little bit jealous…
My favourite photo is: “The polar bears go marching on”. It’s too sweet how the little one tries to keep up with his mum.
    Thanks for showing it!

    Hugs
    Anke

  5. Polar bear cubs are always very cute. So is OTIS!
The golden colour of Mama’s and baby’s fur are indeed remarkable and beautiful but what I like best are the photos next the water:

Touchingly sweet is little OTIS bathing his paws and little snout!

Thanks to Mr. Hans for sharing these photos and to make it possible to also see again dear Mr. WILBEAR!

Thanks to Mervi for the photo-matching words and her editor’s efforts.

  6. Es ist so schön zu sehen, wie Otis in der Obhut von Frimas seine kleine Welt erobert!! Und eines Tages wird er hoffentlich so ein liebenswerter großer Eisbär sein, wie sein Vater Wilbär!!! 🐻‍❄️🐻‍❄️👌👏🐻‍❄️💝😊
