Tala is an ice princess with pants on!

15.2.2023 – Photos by Pat Waldron and Sheila Baker

Flocke is happy knowing his sons are doing fine and are living close to her even if they don’t live with her. She has all the reason to be proud of them and she certainly is proud of her lovely daughter who still lives with her.

Tala has been a self confident polar bear girl since she was a small cubbie. She never hesitated to challenge her bigger brothers.

The keepers in Antibes gave her a nick name – Rasputina because she’s as lively and powerful as her father Raspi.

Flocke is admiring her playful daughter. It looks like the birds have established a fan club for Tala.

Tala seems to be very particular about her looks and wants even her mama look like a white polar bear lady.

Mama, you really need a bath! What will the visitors say if they see your muddy-look!

OK! Better now, my child?

Tala always finds ways to entertain herself so Flocke can have time for herself.

She’s an expert in transporting things from A to B … or even further. 🙂

Steeple chase is no challenge for her either! 🙂

Who needs paws when you have a useful nose? 🙂

As we know the female polar bears are the queens and the males are the kings. However, it’s usually the queens that rule in the enclosures. If Tala will be introduced to a male bear I’m sure she will immediately show who’s in charge. 🙂

That’s it for now but we’ll be back soon!

  2. Dear Mervi,

the nickname for Tala suits this tough young bear well and Flocke and her Raspi are rightly proud of their gorgeous kids.

Pat and Sheila, the photos are great and it is such a joy to see the bear family so chipper. Hopefully Flocke and Tala will continue to get along so well so they can stay together for a long time to come.

  4. Dear Pat, dear Sheila and dear Mervi!
Tala is a beautiful young polar bear lady, courageous, fun-loving, curious and playful. It is fortunate that Flocke can continue to live with her daughter. Both have a beautiful winter coat, whether they prefer it white or tinted….
Tala really takes after her father and Rasputina is a fitting nickname for her.
A potential partner should dress warmly!
I especially like the photos where she shows what play possibilities are in buckets and canisters.
Thank you for this lovely update!

    Hugs
    Anke
