28.5.2023 by Michelle Rippey

It’s Sunday FUNday, so here’s a recent mix of the endangered species you’ll see at the zoo. Have a beautiful FUNday!

Here comes Eastern (or Mountain) Bongo, Sydney thru the crowned cranes.

funday1

Hello, Sydney. Eastern (or Mountain) Bongo’s are listed as “critically endangered” (less than 100 remain in the wild)

funday2

Hello, Zuri.

funday3

Poppy left late week for her new zoo. My final pics were the day before watching her get Asante up from his brief rest.

funday4

Giraffes were recently listed as “endangered”. Poppy’s new zoo will make her announcement soon.

funday5

Looks like Alex has a reminder for everyone……..STAY HYDRATED!

funday6

The demonstration is over (for now). I love watching Alex when she’s “busy”.

funday7

Beautiful & endangered, Alex.

funday8

Meanwhile……handsome Tommy is inside enjoying a snackie!

funday9

Bonobo K2. He & Qasai are 2 of my faves.

funday10

Looks like it’s grooming time for Qasai. Bonobos are endangered

funday11

DIGGER!! The Grand Cayman Blue Iguana is listed as endangered, BUT is an ongoing conservation success story.

funday12

Made a quick stop on a busy Sun to see the new girl. She’s PURRfect. A.J. & baby girl.

funday13

She has not yet been formally announced by the zoo since the birth occurred on Sat (around 11:30am). Stay tuned for her official announcement.

Yummy! This is A.J.’s first girl. All 4 previous were boys.

  1. Dear Michelle
There are sooo many endangered species!
Also in our countries! Its a pity, that
mankind destroys many habitats of wonder-
ful animals. Some of them disappeare,
before we notice them, like many
    insects or amphibic animals in
    the tropical woods… 🙁

One of the Kudus is funny with his
    crossed horns. Bonobos are very
    special apes, different of the
    chimpanzees. Orangs are so
    in danger, cause of the
    ongoing destruction of
    their living space in
    Indonesia, its sad.

So the Zoos more and more
are a kind of arche for the
    endangered species, where
    our kids will watch them
    in the future, not only
    in books or on photos.

    Greetings
    Chris

  2. Dear Michelle.
Thank you for these great photos of endangered species that may soon only be seen in zoos.
One photo is always more stunning than the other! All these animals are beautiful and lovable.
I am especially touched by the portraits of the orang utangs and the bonobos. Their looks go straight to my heart.

    Hugs
    Anke

  3. Dear Michelle and Mervi!
