Yet another great trip to Jimmy’s Farm! It started with a farmer’s breakfast in The Barn Restaurant & Coffee House (which I highly recommend), before making our way to see Flocke, Tala, Ewa & Hope.
There are so many photos of our white fluffy friends so there will be several articles of them in this magazine. The first article is starred by Ewa.
Flocke, Tala & Ewa were enjoying an early morning snack when we arrived……Hope was nowhere to be seen. Ewa then went on walkabout while Flocke & Tala chose the water.
Ewa, Flocke and Tala
Loved my visit to see Flocke, Tala, Ewa & Hope on the 16th of September. According to the keeper, Hope is the boss, Ewa still keeps her distance from everyone up to the point there is food around and Flocke is still the thorn preventing a harmonious unit. 🐻❄️
She came from Orsa where she was used to big enclosures. Luckily she found a new home in Jimmy’s Farm that can offer her as spacious home as she had in Sweden.
Rolling in the grass is always fun!
Ewa is now the 2nd heaviest of the four bears weighing in at 380 kg.
She likes to do her own thing….apart from when there is food on offer.
Ewa on walkabout …. the trains go by regularly but this does not affect the animals.

The wet fur makes Ewa look like a sheep …. but, please, don’t tell her I wrote this! 🙂

I’m very pleased about your new reports from the polar bear flat-share at Jymmi’s farm – so today Ewa is the main character, which is her right, because she is the oldest, even if the much younger Hope is challenging her for the boss of the group.
It’s a shame that Flocke shows so little sense of the need for harmony and perhaps that’s why Ewa is a loner.
The last picture with the sheepskin is great! Of course we won’t give anything away…

Thank you for the lovely update from Ewa at Jimmy’s farm! I wish she would find a friend to end her ‘loner’ existence. I have Tosca and Nancy in mind as role models. But perhaps that was just as unique as the whole bear territory at Berlin Zoo back then? I would very much welcome a bit more harmony between the ladies, but sometimes the chemistry just isn’t right and a certain competitive behaviour prevails.
But at least some of the photos show that Ewa doesn’t take it too hard and still has fun.

Auch wenn die vier Eisbärinnen nicht ein Herz und eine Seele sind, scheinen sie im großen und ganzen gut miteinander auszukommen und jede kann ihren Bedürfnissen nachgehen…
Und “ein Wolf im Schafspelz” ist Ewa mit Sicherheit nicht, wenn sie Hope erlaubt, “die Chefin” zu sein…👍🐻❄️😉🤗

The bears have enough space to avoid each other if they don’t want to be together.

I do not know who wrote the text, Pat or Mervi? But one thing is for sure: the comparison of the wet fur with a sheep is bringing the boomsie in serious danger.
I am glad to read that the animals do have sufficient space.

Ewa as a mother who bas lost her cub (Miki) is doing what she would do in the wild, keeping away from other bears unless a mating male comes along
Flocke is a matriarch and has been used to keeping her cubs (and Raspi) in check.
Her two daughters are very different. Hope has her size from Raspi while Tala has his strong character and playfulnesz.
