On 18th August 2023, the Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened the new 2.5 acre ‘Cheetah Territory’ to members of the public. Believed to be one of the largest in Europe, the breeding complex is made up of 3 reserves and 2 houses.
It has been meticulously designed to replicate their natural habitat with lush grasses, rocky outcrops, sandy enclaves, trees and caves.
Darcy, a beautiful 4-year-old female arrived from Fota Wildlife Park in Ireland and she didn’t disappoint!
Unfortunately for Brooke, a 13-year-old male who had just arrived from Bristol Zoo in England, his debut would have to wait. They were brought together as part of the European Endangered Species Breeding Programme so ‘fingers crossed’, we shall hear the pitter patter of tiny paws in the future.
Waiting for your, Brooke!

Absolutely beautiful animals so majestic will have to go back and see them
Dear Pat
I think cheetahs are just beautiful, fast and interesting animals.
The new cheetah territory looks like a very wonderful area to me. I think the new residents will feel comfortable here. And then there will soon be offspring.
Thanks for the report and the great pictures.
Thank you too, dear Mervi.
Hugs,
Anita
I also love cheetahs very much and this beautiful and spacious area is owed to this noble species.
I wish the YWP every success and the pair a speedy reunion!
Dear Pat!
The cheetah’s enclosure is very good.
Hugs

Dear Pat!
Cheetahs are very elegant and special cats of prey. I’m sure they will do well in Yorkshire and with the good conditions there may soon be the wanted offspring.
Thank you for introducing us these beauties!
All the best
