Am 27.04.2023 sind wir in den Zoo Hannover gefahren um uns von Nana zu verabschieden. Zuerst sahen wir nur den Sprinter. Milana war nicht zu sehen. Bei Nana im Gehege war die Tür ofen, aber Nana war nicht da.
On 27.04.2023 we went to Hannover Zoo to say goodbye to Nana. At first we only saw Sprinter. Milana was not to be seen. At Nana’s enclosure the door was open, but Nana was not there.
Wir haben einen Rundgang durch den Zoo gemacht und kamen wieder zu den Eisbären. Ungefähr um 16 Uhr ein Pfleger brachte einen Ball für Nana und hat nach ihr gerufen. Sie kam raus.
We did a tour through the zoo and came back to the polar bears. At about 4pm a keeper brought a ball for Nana and called for her. She came out.
Sprinter lief in seinem Gehege.

Nana hat die Reste der blauen Tonne geholt und damit gespielt.
Nana fetched the leftovers from the blue barrel and played with them.
Bei der Fütterung hat Sprinter viele Fische bekommen. Er ist ein beeindruckender Bär.
Sprinter got lots of fish at feeding time. He is an impressive bear.
Auch Nana hat die Fische bekommen. Wir wünschen ihr ein gutes Leben im anderen Zoo.
Nana also got the fish. We wish her a good life in the other zoo.
Das Wetter war an diesem Tag gut. Wir haben die Gorillafamilie im Außengehege getroffen.
The weather was good that day. We met the gorilla family in the outdoor enclosure.
Die Seelöwen waren wie immer fleißig.
The sea lions were active as usual.

Den Gorillas zuzuschauen ist immer interessant.
Die Seelöwen sind sehr kluge & verspielte Tiere.

I’m glad you were able to say goodbye to Nana.
Yesterday I saw a nice documentary on TV about the Hannover Adventure Zoo, where Nana had been separated from Milana shortly before because of incompatibility and the keepers were anxious to see how the reunion of Sprinter and Milana would go. Sprinter gets a “male pill” but was still very interested in Milana, who in turn was more interested in fresh lettuce – well, shit happens.
The difference in size between the two is enormous, Milana almost reminds you of the small Antonia in Gelsenkirchen.
Thank you for your detailed report. Do you already know where Nana is going or have I already forgotten?

Danke für die lebendigen Bilder der verspielten Nana im Zoo Hannover.
Es ist immer mit Wehmut und Sorgen verbunden, wenn Jungbären einen Zoo verlassen und in einen anderen ziehen. Ich hoffe, dass Nana, die in Hannover eine schöne Kindheit hatte, in einen guten Zoo kommt.
Als Sprinter ungefähr in Nanas Alter war, haben wir ihn im Zoo “Artis” in Amsterdam besucht, wo er kurzzeitig vor seinem Umzug nach Hannover “geparkt” war. Er hat uns ziemlich leid getan, weil seine Unterbringung dort nicht optimal war, um es vorsichtig auszudrücken. Aber nach seinem Umzug ging es ihm dann in Hannover gut. Er hatte Glück!
