A whirlwind called Tala

24.3.2023 – Photos by Pat Waldron

It’s not easy to take photos of a still sitting Tala but Pat had a perfect timing when she visited the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The young girl is as beautiful as her mother Flocke – don’t you agree?

OK! Enough of the peaceful sitting – it’s time for some action!

Look what I found in the water! This is a perfect way to keep my head cool now that the Spring sun begins to shine!

Hmm, I must do something about this pile of boxes.

tala18

I think I will move them somewhere else …..

tala16

How about up here? Do you think I can manage it?

tala14

What a silly question! Of course, I will manage – I’m Tala the power girl!

Done! Standing ovations are accepted!

Now some exercises in ball throwing.

talaball1

Oh bear, this ball is really very round!

talaball2

I need a little help of my paw.

talaball3

Oops! Did I throw it or ….

talaball5

Whatever – I’m going after it!

talaball7

Tala is very ‘self going girl’ but every now and then she wants to play with mama.

Some friendly wrestling between the mama and her daughter is often on the schedule.

Are you giving up!

This is polar bear karate!

No hard feelings after the game.

  3. Dear Pat,
    dear Mervi,

that is such a beautiful story with Tala and her box!
I always admire the perseverance of bears when they transport an object somewhere else. And maneuvering that box across the narrow walkway was a real challenge and classy as you described it again.

Tala is a self-confident lady, can keep herself busy on her own but her mom is still important to her, if only to measure her strength against her.

Many thanks to both of you for the successful photos and the excellent text!

    • Dear Pat and Mervi
Thank you for this special about Tala and Flocke.
My recent visit last week caught them in a quieter mood.

  4. Dear Pat and Mervi!
Thank you for these heart-warming and lively pictures of Tala – and not least of Flocke, her amazing mother!
There is almost nothing better for their admirers than to watch bears that are doing well, playful and full of life! Tala is a beautiful young bear lady who brings much joy to her fans. The whole photo gallery of her activities is so great that I can’t pick a favourite.

    Hugs
    Anke

  5. Tala is nearly as big as her Mama.
She has grown a lot! Our Flocke is
    so beautiful – best polarbearmama
    of the world ! 🙂
