Of course, the International Polar Bear Day was celebrated in style with what is now a permanent tradition in Copenhagen: a big heap of snow!
What a wonderful surprise it was!
It’s a wonderful sight to see our polar bears roll in the snow and enjoy their right element.
The four polar bears in Copenhagen are Lynn with her daughter Imaq and Nöel with her daughter Inuviq. They all live together.
I don’t know which of the bears this is but she needed a snack while the others were frolicking in the snow. 🙂
Let’s also take the opportunity to talk about the background to this special day. One reason, of course, is to appreciate and celebrate these amazing animals. But another reason is that wild polar bears are under great pressure due to the climate change.
In addition to participating in research and breeding collaborations, the four polar bears in our Zoo also play an important role as ambassadors for their wild relatives. They give us all a chance to see these amazing animals with our own eyes and understand that their survival requires our action. This is one of the things you support with your visit. Together we are taking care of the world’s animals.

Thank you very much for these enjoyable pictures and the fun “snow flurry”.

The four ladies in Copehagen seem to have aporeciated the snow. I wonder if Inge was able to visit them.
Thank you, dear Mervi
