On Wednesday (3rd of March) our polar bear cub had it’s third month birthday and celebrated it in the snow with mama Ewa.
The baby bear has now started to take short excursions outside the den. Ewa and the baby are not yet in the bigger enclosures but spend their time in a small enclosure near the den. Every now and then they take walks outdoors. That means it’s not sure the visitors can see them but there’s a chance they can see at least a glimpse of them from a distance.
t’s important the baby gets acclimatized for the cold climate but even short walks take a lot of energy so the walks mustn’t be too long.
Of course, the door to the den is open all the time so the mother and the baby can go in and out as they choose. After the months in the den Ewa loves to stay in the sun and enjoy the day light.
The cubbie has started to take small bites of Ewa’s food but, naturally, mama’s milk bar is the best source of nourishment.
