When Quintana heard there’s still snow in Ranua she emailed Nalle and asked how it was. Of course, Nalle immediately answered: ‘You’re most welcome to see it yourself! I’ll be happy to be your host’.
Quintana didn’t hesitate but together with mama Giovanna took the first flight to Ranua. Isn’t it great that in our special world the Bear Force One is always ready to fly the passengers where ever they want to go! 🙂
– Dear Quintana, welcome to my home! Oh bear, your face looks a bit dirty but don’t you worry – I know exactly how your face will be white as snow, hahaa…..
Both cubbies spent a couple of hours rolling in the snow and had so much fun together.
– Dear Nalle, can we really eat that white stuff, too?
– Oh yes, it’s special polar bear ice cream. Of course, if the snow is very dirty it’s better not to eat it but here it’s very clean.
– We are so lucky living in our enclosures with our mamas. The keepers take such a good care of us, too. We have everything we need ….. My mother has told me that our friends in the wild are starving because the climate change has made their living conditions so difficult.
– Isn’t there anything we can do for them? The ice is melting very fast in their area ….. but we have lots of ice here! Couldn’t we send it to the Arctic? Let’s ask our mamas – they know everything!
Giovanna and Venus found the intention very good but sending ice wasn’t such a good idea. It would melt away and wouldn’t be a solution to the big problem.
– Dear friends, if you’re so concerned about your friends in the wild it would be better to try to open people’s eyes and make them realize the facts. Maybe a letter to every two legged person in the world – especially the leaders – would make a difference? You could also enclose some nice photos of yourselves in the envelope. Surely cute cubbies like you would make people think ….
Quintana and Nalle ordered lots of envelopes and nice stamps and wrote a little letter, too, where they asked people to think more of their environment and thus help Mother Nature to help the polar bears – and even other animals!
– Some people claim it’s wrong to keep polar bears in the zoos and animal parks but we’re happy – at least in most zoos! There’s always enough food so our mothers never have to worry about it. We also have lots of enrichment and there’s medical help available if we get ill. The keepers and the visitors love us. We can consider ourselves privileged! We can only hope that one day even our friends in the wild can say the same!

Venus and Nalle love the Winter time but are also looking forward to the Spring.
Nalle keeps checking the trees and wonders when they will turn green ……
Quintana can already play in the grass although the weather hasn’t been so warm yet. Well, she’s a polar bear and doesn’t mind the chilly weather.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all the people were as concerned about our planet as our sweet little friends are!
