Knut – Een kleenet Kind in 2008

5.10.2024 – Photos by Gudrun

This time I thought you would like to see some photos taken by Gudrun in 2008 when Knut was still ‘een kleenet Kind’.

We all remember the funny ball games. Very often even the visitors were allowed to participate.

Winter time was even Knuti’s favourite season. I’m glad his last Winter was very snowy …..

  2. Liebe Gudrun und Mervi!
Danke für die schönen Erinnerungen. Das war eine Zeit mit vielen Hoffnungen.
    Hugs

  3. Dear Mervi!
Thank you for this beautiful and somewhat wistful Knut memory page.
Anyone who experienced that time with fascination and enthusiasm will remember Thomas Dörflein’s remark that Knut was still a ‘kleenet Kind’. No small or growing polar bear has been photographed more often, painted or drawn by a child more often and brought together more people from all over the world than Knut. The fact that he still evokes such strong and vivid memories so many years after his untimely death is unique. He is and will remain unforgotten.
Dumba, thank you for your affectionate autumnal collage!

    Hugs
    Anke

  4. Dear Mervi
Time continues to pass since Knut and Thomas were taken from us. The two ladies associated with Knut: Flocke who was hand reared the following year and Giovanna who shared his enclosure in 2009/10 have both reared cubs and now live in quiet retirement with other female Polars.
Knut lives forever as a young cub (he was only 4 when he left us). Flocke’s two boys are now that age and live in England. Knut remains in Berlin Zoo not just in the bronze statue of Dreamer or thousands of images but also in the memories of those of us who visited him and met friends because of him

  5. dear Mervi,
