Polar bears’s snow white bedrooms in Novosibirsk

18.3.2024 – Photos by Anna Novikova

The snow is melting away even in Novosibirsk but I want to show you some photos of the snowy days before the polar bears declare the Winter season finished.

While Belka and Strelka are playing and fooling around mama Gerda has a chance to take a nap.

Time for mama to check what the kids are up to.

After the kids have been so active all day long Gerda calls them to her milk bar.

Dear kids! Come now, it’s time for you to sleep. You’re still little cubbies and need lots of rest!

We’ve heard rumours that the zoo is planning new enclosures for us!

According to the director of the institution Andrei Shilo, the enclosure will be built as part of the project to build a new complex “North Pole”. Two enclosures for polar bears are planned to be built in total. The “North Pole” complex will include enclosures for polar animals: fox owls, Arctic foxes and wolves. The complex is now at the design stage. In the first half of 2024 it is planned to develop its design, and in the second half of the year – to form the working documentation. The final cost of the project will be known at the end of this year.

For the time being our white fluffy friends are using their white outdoor bedrooms. 🙂

OK! Wait a little – I’m ‘rehearsing’ the polar bear pose! 🙂

Oh mama, before I sleep I want to hug you.

Here’s one – where’s the other?

Now they are all asleep.

The whole family curled together.

Belka and Strelka

The twins like to sleep together but they also want to stay close to mama.

Even papa Kai likes to sleep in his snowy bedroom.

  1. One cannot but love the whole Novosibirsk polar bear family!

Mother GERDA is my star today with “… Mama Gerda has a chance to take a nap.” and “Time for mama to check what the kids are up to.”

Papa KAI muss sich als ‘Riesen-TEDDY’ wahrlich auch nicht verstecken . . .

Und die Kinder sind ja sowieso goldig; however, I love again a photo together with Mama GERDA best: “Oh mama, before I sleep I want to hug you.” It’s soooo ‘double-awwwwwwwww!”

Consequently: mille grazie to the photographer Anna Novikova and our estimated editor and word-giver Mervi for the pleasure of watching and reading 🙂

  2. It is good to see the Polarbears are allright and its fine they get a new enclos ure 💖💖👍👍

  4. Dear Anna and Mervi!
Thank you for these heart-warming photos of this lovely polar bear family. One photo is always more beautiful than the other. Mum and kids are a beautiful sight, but I was especially happy to see Kai sleeping peacefully. He looks marvellous.

I am very happy for the polar bears and other polar animals at Novosibirsk Zoo that they will have better facilities and living conditions in the foreseeable future. And if the care continues to be so good and loving, the zoo can only be congratulated.

    Hugs
    Anke

  5. “Eine schrecklich nette Familie!” 😘 💔 😍 💔 🥰 💔 👍

    Liebe Grüße von Brigitte
