4.5.2018 – Photos by Marko Junttila, Ranua Wildlife Park
Terve! Hello! I’ve seen photos of a beautiful polar bear girl (whose name begins with the letter ‘Q’) playing on the green grass but here in Ranua we have to wait for a while until we can see the green stuff.
I don’t mind because the snow and the ice offers mama and me a wonderful playground!
Have you seen submarines with white fur before?
Hahaa, I was just kidding you! It’s mama and I diving in the icy water!
Have I ever told you that many Finns love to jump into icy water after the sauna? Yes, they do and I can understand it perfectly well because it’s so refreshing!
Mama and I like to have chilly discussions ….
Please, feel free to admire my shining white fur!
After a nice bath we like to fool around in the snow.
I just have to know how mama’s fur tastes!
Mommy, let’s dance the snow step!!
Dear boy, I don’t know that dance.
Come on, let me show you! It’s easy – you just have to jump up and down in the snow! You must learn this new dance. I’ve heard rumours you’re going to have a new male friend when I’m leaving. How do you intend to charm him if you can’t dance?
Dancing is quite exhausting so I’d better take a break and look for something eatable.
Mama!! I’ve got a friend – he’s looking at me from the water! Have you perhaps ordered a brother to me??
Come on pal! Let’s shake paws!
Mama told me it wasn’t another polar bear. The water is so clear that I could see myself like in a mirror ….. I’m a little disappointed it wasn’t a brother but on the other hand – I must say I liked what I saw ….
Yippee! Our keepers have placed a big piece of meat in our outdoor freezer.
I want to give a hug even to my meat. I believe in being nice to everybear and everything!
Sorry, but now I’m going to eat you.
The snow is getting dirty on certain places in our enclosure ….
… but luckily there are shadowy spots where the snow is still shining white so I can keep my fur presentable!
