10.1.2019 – Photos by Marko Junttila, Ranua Wildlife Park
Terve! Hello! It’s me, your pal Sisu again! I hope you’ve all had a good start of this year just like my mama and I have.
Because many people think ‘kaamos’ (the time with short days) is a very dull time I want to show you again a nice photo. Does it look dull to you? I think not! The blue hour makes the whiteness have many shades of different colours. Simply beautiful in my opinion.
I’m glad to start the first newsletter of 2019 telling you that we’ve got more snow and everything is simply wonderful!
I love to stroll around in our enclosure and enjoy the snow under my paws.
Have you noticed the white flowers on the trees? Just kidding – of course, I know it’s snow! 🙂
Last year I didn’t know so much but now I’m a big boy and know these flowers will melt away when the Spring comes. However, I hope it doesn’t hurry ….
There are many almost similar photos in this newsletter but Marko has again taken such beautiful pics of us so I simply couldn’t choose!
Doesn’t my fur look fantastic? I hope you don’t mind my saying that I’m quite happy about my good looks! Why be too modest?!
I think I heard something …. maybe it’s mama?
Sometimes it’s difficult to find mama but I can always smell her. As you know we polar bears have an excellent sense of smell.
Hi, ma! What have you’ve been up to this morning?
Have you any plans for the rest of the day or shall we just keep strolling?
Mama, I know! Let’s measure the sizes of our mouths. I think mine may be bigger than yours now!
OK! Almost equal but soon even my mouth will be bigger than yours. I’ll be a mighty polar bear just like papa Manasse and my big brother Ranzo. Talking of Ranzo – I hope he and Nora have snow, too, in Vienna.
I’ve shown you photos of howling wolves and singing dholes in my previous newsletters but this time mama and I want to show you our eminent wolf imitation. Maybe we should arrange a song contest – the polar bears vs the wolves? We already ‘produce’ very nice and loud noise but our coreography needs some rehearsing.
I have not so much more to tell you. We are happy polar bears hoping for a long Winter. I know the two legged creatures don’t agree with us but who cares!!!
Bye bye for now! I’m going for a walkabout again but before I go I wish all the readers a very pleasant Winter time!
