Mika is a very curious kind of little man so this day he decided to take a closer look at some things in his enclosure. First he checked that the wall was solid enough.
Then it was time to examine the tree logs.
Looks quite good.
I wonder what’s inside this log ….
A visitor said I’m an arborist. I don’t know what it means but I’m sure it’s something nice!
Oh, I hear mama calling me.
Come now, Mika! Let’s go and see if there are some snacks for us.
Hopefully we’ll get some veggies so we will stay healthy.
Mama, are the veggies those green things?
Some of them are green but there’s red stuff, too.
Hey, Mama! I found red stuff!
Dear boy, that veggie is a tomato. I’m sure you will like it.
Hmm, it’s quite eatable … but there’s nothing wrong with fish either ….
You’ve been a good boy eating your tomato so Mama gives you a real bear hug.

Life has both tragedy and happiness, and Karlsruhe has seen both this week. Even with the loss of Kap, we still must smile when we see the antics of his little son Mika. The photos of Mother Nuka with Mika are so sweet, and Mika is so curious and funny. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Danke für dieses niedliche Update! Mika ist genauso neugierig und lebensfroh wie man es sich nur wünschen kann. Er lernt seine Umgebung kennen und probiert alles mögliche aus. Wenn er jetzt Interesse an den Baumstümpfen zeigt – Stichwort Baumpfleger -, erinnert er mich ein bisschen an Knut, der ja im Laufe seines Lebens ein gewisses gärtnerisches Talent entwickelt hat…
Kap bleibt unvergessen und es macht traurig, an ihn zu denken. Wir hätten ihm so sehr noch viele gute Jahre gewünscht.

Die Fotogrüße von einem weiteren Eisbärenkind mit “gärtnerischem Talent” und seiner fürsorglichen Mama sind ein Trostpflaster, den der Verlust von Kap, der “eine Seele von Eisbär” gewesen ist, wiegt schwer…
Aber das Leben geht weiter und Nuka scheint nun entspannter zu sein..
All meine guten Wünsche begleiten Nuka und Mika weiterhin..🐻❄️🐻❄️💝
