Imaq and Inuk turned five! Born on 4 December 2019 in Aalborg, the polar bear sisters have lovely names with meaning: Inuk means Inuit, a member of the West Eskimo people, while Imaq means sea, ocean. The snow made a great ‘scene’ for the birthday party.
Imaq, who is a little taller and likes to be in the water a lot, enjoyed a meat and vegetable ice-cream in the water for her birthday. The smaller Inuk waited on the shore until his sister swam close and left him the ice cream.
Review of birthday gifts.
The red wolves, who roam around their garden light-footedly and keep an eye on the tiger in the next garden when possible, have grown a nice fluffy coat for the winter.
On a dusky December day, the owl sits motionless on a branch in the tiger enclosure, eyes rounded on its head.
After the birthday ceremonies Imaq and Inuk remembered that Christmas is approaching with giant steps.
They started the decorating of the enclosure. 🙂
It had been snowing so the ground looked very Christmas like.
I guess this branch needs some decorations ….
We have a wonderful mountain, too!
Better take it easy with the steps …. it’s quite slippery!
What a perfect day with Christmas gifts and snow!
Lovely Friida
Thank you for watching!
We have to go now but we hope to be here soon again!
In the video you can see when Imaq and Inuk explored their enclosure for the first time.

Mervi
Thank you for posting this news. The two seem to have had a great welcome.
Dear Inari, Imbi and dear Mervi !
Imaq and Inuk are lucky that they can enjoy snow for their birthday in their new home. They appear relaxed and seem to have coped well with their move. It’s wonderful that their fifth birthday was also made special by the keepers with presents and treats!
Friida looks great and I’m glad she’s been spared another pregnancy!
I wish the polar bears in Tallinn a winter just as they like it!
Thank you for your beautifully photographed report!
Hugs
Anke
Dear Mervi!
I am glad that Imaq and Inuk got a nice home. Frida has the other enclosure. She looks very nice.
