25.5.2025 – Source: Nyíregyházi Állatpark
🇭🇺 The half-year-old polar bear twins from Nyíregyházi Állatpark were named. The two males were named Jorek and Ootek. In a post, the zoo asked its followers to send name suggestions, and the keepers chose them. 🙂 🐻 ❄️ 🐻 ❄️

My babies need lots of nourishment so they will grow to impressive polar bears.

The boys are just so cute. I always liked the brave Jorek, Iorek, the Panzer Bear in the Golden Compass. Good name for one of the cubs. I will have to figure out what movie the other one, Ootek, is from.

Nun haben die Zwillinge von Snezhana einen Namen!! Ob es mit der Zeit gelingen wird, Ootek und Jorek auseinander halten zu können…? Vom Charakter her sollen die beiden Jungs ja sehr unterschiedlich sein…👍🐻❄️🐻❄️💝
Es sind jedenfalls keine Allerweltsnamen, das ist gut so und hübsch sind sie auch!

Like Molly, I also immediately thought of Iorek, the big armoured polar bear in the Golden Compass… A big name for such a small bear. I like it! Ootek certainly has a special meaning too.
The pictures are great! I particularly like the underwater photos, the beautiful reflection of Snezhana and her children and the sleeping little ones.
