Now it’s been confirmed that Nanook and Noori are actually boys – not girls. It’s sometimes very difficult to decide the gender of polar bear cubs but now we know. 🙂
Polar bears are supposed to be white all the time but all our beloved giant friends know that a dirty bear is a happy bear!
Two versions of a polar bear – Hope being white and Noori being should we say off-white. 🙂
After all the ball games in the water Nanook decided it was time to enter the mulch bed ….
… but he didn’t come alone.
This toy still looks too good.
I think it’s time to break it. A polar bear must do what a polar bear must do! 🙂
On second thought – a nice nap is also nice!
Napping is just like saving money in a bank!
After a short nap Nanook took a walk.
Now it was Hope’s and Noori’s turn to roll in the mulch.
A little while after the whole family was gathered …
… and both Hope and the boys had changed their fur colour to off-white. 🙂
There’s nothing as comfortable as a nice mulch bed.

In the last time there are more boys as girls at polar bears in the Zoos.
Hope’s kids are lovely and dirty.

The photos of the bears in the mulch show once again how gratefully and playfully the animals react to every change and diversion in their walks and can dig and rummage in the mulch to their heart’s content. In Berlin, the mulch bed is at most 30cm thick as you can estimate from the wooden border.

Once again you can see very well that polar bears prefer wood chips as a place to lie down.

The third part of your report is also a delight.
Funny that the girls turn out to be boys; especially in this time when there is a lot of confusion about the right gender, even among humans…
What more do visitors need than one to three (polar) bears, a proper mulch bed and one or more tubes? Already he/she is entertained in the most beautiful way.
