Belka and Strelka are growing fast and getting stronger and stronger. They can already play with the biggest toys in the water.

Mama Gerda wanted to join the girls ….
… and encouraged them to start playing with the magnum ‘string of pearls’.

After the power demonstration it was time for a break. My wild guess is it didn’t last so long! 🙂

The twins in Novosibirsk are cute, but even Arkadi can’t tell us anything about the previous pair of twins – whether they are still there and living in an even smaller concrete enclosure like this one or have been “moved” somewhere else. That is why I am not very excited about these little ones. In Novosibirsk, they breed at the drop of a hat. Other zoos have meanwhile put on the brakes, because it is almost impossible to get the half-grown youngsters elsewhere. I fear that after their cuteness as crowd pullers, the same fate awaits these little ones as the others….
(My critical remarks have nothing to do with the fact that this is a zoo in Russia).
Derzeit wird für das Wohlbefinden der Zwillinge und das ihrer Mutter ja bestens gesorgt und die Fotos mit den Kommentaren machen wirklich Freude!
Leider ist die ‘Umsiedlung’ des Eisbärennachwuchses und der erwachsenen Eisbären mittlerweile ein generelles Problem der Zoos, die Eisbären halten und nachzüchten, obwohl die Plätze so rar sind!! Das ist die Kehrseite der Medaille!!

I think the twins are having the time of their lives right now together with their mother. The photos are great and show two little confident, playful and fun-loving polar bears with their toys. Sadly, their future lives are as much in the dark as those of their older siblings and I certainly wish them and of course their predecessors health, happiness and well-being in the future!
