Nobby’s Summer day

9.7.2023 by Nobby with a little help from Mervi, Photos by Pat Waldron

Good morning! Guten Morgen! I hope you remember me – I’m your gorgeous Nobby. I’m famous of my special skils of taking things easy so I love to have a nice nap in the morning when the sun is not too hot.

I know how important it is to stretch properly after a nap. (Mervi’s note: He looks like a cat stretching 🙂 but, please, don’t tell Nobby I wrote this! Probably he wouldn’t be amused!)

Then I want to do some exercises on the grass.

Hello sun!

Hello visitors!

When it gets too hot I cool off with a nice swimming tour.

What luck we have our big Lake Polar Bear in this park! As you know I live in the Yorkshire Wildlife Park with many polar bear friends.

Even though I prefer cooler water it’s still very refreshing when it’s too darned hot!

Let me introduce some of my friends. OK, we’re not exactly bussom friends but we live in the same park. 🙂

Many people don’t like hyenas but I find them very cute. In this photo it looks like he was living in a savannah.

  1. Dear Pat and Mervi and of course Nobby.
Thank you for the lazy hazy crazy days of Summer with the coolest bear at YWP (Nobby asked me to make this clear).
I am delighted to see shots of the other animals who are usually too far away for my phone cam

  2. Dear Nobby
I wish you a nice summer time.
You are doing everything right. You start the day with a nap in the shade. Then you do a few stretching exercises. And then into the cool water. You could stay there all day.
How often do I say, that we humans can only learn from animals.
Thank you, dear Nobby and dear Pat and of course also dear Mervi for this wonderful and instructive article in Knuti`s Magazine!

    Hugs,
    Anita

  3. Dear Pat and Mervi!
Nobby is doing just right with the temperatures! You could almost envy him, everyone of us wishes for such a nice relaxed summer day! Wonderful how he straightens and stretches after he wakes up. “Rise and shine” is a very fitting expression in relation to him.
Thank you for these wonderful pictures!

    Hugs
    Anke

  4. Dear Mervi,
    dear Pat,

thank you for this refreshing report about Nobby, who is really a bon vivant, because he is equipped with the good genes of his mother Giovanna and those of our unforgotten Yoghis!

Anita hits the nail on the head: From the animals we should learn to live more in the here and now, and you dear Nobby, are doing it right and the fantastic photographer PAT shows this with her great photos.

The other park inhabitants do the same and relax in the same way.
The pretty ringtailed lemurs do it all together anyway!

Thank you very much to all three of you and best regards!
    Britta-Gudrun

Die Eisbären im YWP haben wirklich ein paradiesischen Plätzchen gefunden und ich freue mich immer besonders über die Fotogrüße von Luka und Nobby!!
