This article is dedicated to all mothers – both two and four legged, both furred and feathered and even reptiles and insects.
Hello! My name is Gerda and I’m a proud mother of two wonderful polar bear girls.
The girls have no official names yet but, of course, I have already given nice names to them. What the names are is a secret.
As all mothers I’m doing everything to protect my babies ….
…. but living in a zoo they are quite safe with me. I wish all the cubs in the wild could feel the same.
Happiness is to have two lovely cubbies by my side …. hmm, and on my back, too! 🙂
Of course, I know that the day will come when my darlings will leave me and, of course, I’m worried about their future.
However, the moments with my girls are so precious that I want to enjoy every second with them. I can worry later!

I hope they will grow to wonderful polar bear ladies and stay healthy and happy. I’m doing my best raising them to self confident and strong bears.
Together with my twins I wish all mothers in this world a very happy Mother’s Day!
Schon meine Mutter lehnte den Muttertag als überkommenes Relikt ab.
Ich bin weder Mutter noch halte ich viel von diesen “Sondertagen”.
Aber bei Gerda machen wir mal eine Ausnahme… 😉
Ihre Zwillinge lassen einen dahin schmelzen.

I’ve always thought that polar bear moms are the best. What they do to prepare their kids for life is unique.
