We know that the Toledo Zoo community has been waiting for what feels like furever, and we’re happy to announce that Kallik and Kallu will make their exhibit debut this Friday!
Starting April 28, Crystal and the cubs will be on exhibit at Arctic Encounter from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The male cubs were born at the Toledo Zoo in November 2022 to 24-year-old mom, Crystal, and 18-year-old dad, Nuka. The Polar bear Species Survival Program (SSP) issued a breeding recommendation for Crystal in hopes of mating to sustain this vulnerable species.
We’re thrilled that Nuka was able to sire twin cubs with Crystal during his time here and can’t wait for the community to meet them finally.
Soon you can meet us live! 🙂
Dear Mervi!
Thank you for the good news from the zoo Toledo.
Kallik and Kallu are sweet. I wish them a wonderful life.

Da können sich die Besucher in Toledo freuen!
Crystals Zwillinge sind gut geraten und so
niedlich, wie alle kleinen Eisbären. 🙂
Hoffen wir, dass man später auch
ein gutes zu Hause für sie findet.
Dear Mervi!
Thank you for this cute update! The two little ones still seem a bit strange and look a little sceptical, but I’m sure they’ll get over it quickly. Crystal always keeps a watchful eye on them. It’s good that they can already swim, and it’s also good that they can hold on to their mum if necessary…
Hugs
Anke
Mervi The new family in Toledo will get many visitors and Iam sure we will enjoy loads of photos.
Dear Mervi,
No one can resist these little cuties and Toledo Zoo is lucky to have healthy bear offspring.
Both have a small dark spot on their nose, similar to their mother. The photo of them swimming with their mother is uniquely beautiful. Pictures like you would normally only see in the wild, adorable!
Best regards
Britta-Gudrun
Thank you very much dear Mervi.
Best wishes to Nuka, Crystal, Kallik and Kallu.
