Back in March I spent a few days at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP) near Doncaster. Flocke and her daughter Tala live a long way from the male Bears in an area called “Project Polar 2”.
The two bears spend a lot of time playing in the lake at the back of their enclosure but as you can see, one bear was lying close to the den.
Flocke is much rounder than her daughter and has longer fur. She was fast asleep.
I thought Tala might be more active. But another whiter shape confirmed that she was asleep.
Teenagers are famous for sleeping and Tala is no exception. She stretched out like a toy bear.
Flocke started to get interested in what was going on.
The male bears get right up to the doorways of the tunnel system and make their presence known.
Flocke and Tala are much more patient. Tala may be very active but she has also learnt to relax.
Flocke stands and is not quite so patient as her cub. Tala is now nearly the same size and is very slim compared with Flocke.
Not so many photos these days as the Bears are normally too far away for my phone but I hope you have enjoyed chilling with Flocke and Tala.
My final photo shows the entrance to allow vehicles to enter the first enclosure at Project Polar 1. The sign reminds the Rangers to know where the Bears are. Nobby is chilling as usual.
Dear Ralph!
Thank you for the report of Flocke and Tala.
Hugs
Ludmila
Dear Ralph!
Thank you so much for your second report from your March visit in YWP!
Tala is now as big as Flocke but I’m sure the Mama still sees her daughter as her baby bear. 🙂
Hugs from Mervi
Dear Ralph,
it is nice to see mother and daughter together so peacefully and we hope it will stay like this for a long time.
In Berlin, Tonja and Hertha were recently separated because Tonja is probably in heat and she no longer tolerates Hertha near her. The two were also together for an unusually long time. Maybe they will get along again after Hertha’s heat, we’ll have to wait and see.
Thank you very much for your photos and the detailed report.
Kind regards
Britta-Gudrun
Hello Ralph
Flocke and her daughter are looking fine.
Its funny, to watch them sleeping. 😀
“Hingegossen ins Grün”, wie wir sagen würden.
I asked myself, why the bears on the poster
are black? 😉 Black polar bears ? But maybe
they are only muddy, after a bath in the pond.
The whole enclosure looks great ! 🙂
Greetings
Chris
Dear Ralph
Chilling is always good 👍
And when the bears are chilling, you can take a close look at the animals and their beauty.
Thank you for your update on Flocke and Tala. I was very pleased to receive it.
Hugs,
Anita
Dear Ralph!
Thank you for sharing your impressions of Yorkshire!
I also noticed the black animal symbols on the signs. My explanation is that they are silhouettes, i.e. shadow outlines, and they happen to be black…
I hope that Flocke, whose figure reminds me meanwhile a lot of Katjuscha, and Tala will be able to live together for a while longer!
It’s always very reassuring to watch sleeping bears and know that they are doing well.
Hugs

..Es gibt sie doch: Die schönen Eisbär-Gedchichten!!

Thank you very much dear Ralph.
Best wishes to Flocke, Tala, Yuma, Indy, Hamish, Sisu, Luka and Hamish.
