Although the snow has melted away now I want to show you the last snowy report from Novosibirsk this season. Mama Gerda is teaching her twins things that are necessary to know for a polar bears.
Before the kids can start exploring their enclosure Gerda makes sure everything’s OK.
OK, children – you can start to do whatever you want to do!
I just hope they won’t be too energetic today!
However, Gerda knows how important it is to let her babies spend a lot of time close to her. Cuddling and caressing are on the schedule every day.
This place sure looks safe!
A special ‘polar bear cub window’ 🙂
Sweet dreams are quaranteed in this place!
In the wild polar bear cubs meet many dangers but in the zoos they can feel relatively safe. There are at least no natural enemies. Unfortunately the worst enemies are stupid visitors thowing things to the enclosures. Let’s hope the visitors in this zoo will behave properly!
In the wild the mother polar bears have great difficulties finding enough food so they can have milk for their cubs. In the zoos there are no such problems.
The keepers make sure Gerda can eat properly. A mother with two kids needs lots of energy! Of course, the kids want to share her meals but so far the solid food isn’t as popular as mama’s milk.
This looks interesting ….
Sometimes Gerda can eat her fish without interference from the cubs.
Gerda’s milk bar is always open for her hungry kids.
Life in a zoo has some great advantages! Gerda doesn’t have to look for food and she can always offer her babies a decent meal.
These two cuties have everything they need for the time being.
We have the best mama in the world!
Mervi’s note: Dear kids, I can only agree!
Gerda is a little embarrassed by the nice and appreciating words.
Thank you for watching! We’ll be back soon – there are lots and lots of wonderful photos of us in store! Maybe we’ll be swimming soon …. 🙂
Thank you for the chance to see Gerda and her two cubs.
Gerda looks like a Polar Bear Mum should, big, round and fluffy.
Her cubs are so cute as they know they have a wonderful Mum.
💓 😍 💓 😘 💓 🥰 !!! Worte fehlen

Dear photographers, dear Mervi!
Thank you for these last winter pictures of these two cuties and their beautiful mother.
I hope for a good future for these two, but fear that they are NOW having the best time of their lives, together with their mom….
Any news on the whereabouts of their older siblings?
Hugs
Anke
Dear Anke!
I’ve heard – through the grapevine – that Nordi and Shauna are still in Novosibirsk. They are staying in an enclosure that the visitors can’t see. But – this is only a hearsay.
Let´s hope the best for all cubbies!
Hugs
Anke
Ich bin gespannt, wie die Zwillinge
sich anstellen, wenn demnächst das
Wasser in den Graben kommt.
Dann wird es lustig ! 🙂
Ich hoffe, wir werden weiter mit
Fotos der russischen Reporter
versorgt !?
Thank you very much dear Mervi and photographers.
Best wishes to Gerda and her babies.
Bezaubernde Fotos und dennoch habe ich bei dieser engen und trostlosen Anlage immer Bauchweh!
