A year ago Wilbär came to Nuenen but he’s still living alone. What luck he can entertain himself with the treasures found in the water. I wish him lots of patience – he will need it while waiting for the first date with Frimas.
Elva is looking for a new home but the ‘market’ is very limited. Her chances to find it are very small because most zoos are already over crowded – at least their polar bear enclosures are.
I’m such a nice polar bear girl so why doesn’t any zoo want me?
Dear Elva! I’m sure every zoo keeping polar bears would love to have you if there was enough space. Please, have patience!
I don’t know if Elva’s tongue has turned blue or is the light playing tricks with us? Or is it just something she has in her mouth …. 🙂
Is she blinking her eys to the visitors?
Luckily Elva and her mother Frimas are getting along very well.
Mama’s back is the best cushion!
And now to something completely different.
Mr Rhino was having a nap. He has a nice hay pillow.
There are cute small piggies in Nuenen.
This photo gives you an idea how small they are.
Finally my favourite fashion icon! I want the same kind of forelock but how on earth do I make the horns grown on my head? 🙂
That’s it, folks! We’ll be back soon.
Dear Mervi
Thank you for taking us back to Nuenen. If the US would relax its restrictions on foreign Polar Bears the problem could be solved.
Dear Mervi!
Thank you for the pictures from Nuenen. It is very sad that there is still no place in the other zoo for Elva. She is a pretty girl.
Hugs
Ludmila
Dear Mervi,
Thank you for your report on Elva in Nuenen……hopefully this gorgeous lady will have a new home in the near future.
I’m sure Tala would love another playmate here at YWP!

Dear Mervi!
That it is becoming increasingly difficult to adequately house young polar bears after they have been separated from their mothers has been apparent for a long time now. Fortunately, there are more and more mothers who accept their female offspring around longer than was previously thought possible. And the fact that young male polar bears can live together in bachelor groups, as in YWP, until a place is found for them, is fortunate.
I wish Elva – and Frimas and Wilbär – that the wait will soon be over and that the best possible solution will be found for them.
It is terrible that Orsa has fallen victim to the greed for profit in this situation of all things!
In Berlin Zoo and Tierpark there would be space and possibilities for one or the other group, but…? I don’t understand it.
Breeding should be adapted to the given situation!
Hugs
Anke
Thank you very much dear Mervi.
Best wishes to Wilbaer, Frimas, Elva and all the other animals in Nuenen.
It is not easy for young bears to find a new home. As long as Elva gets on well with her mom, she can stay. But that means that Wilbär will remain alone.
Thanks for the nice pictures.
Hugs,
Anita
Daher
sollte man erstmal keine neuen Babies
mehr “produzieren” !
