8.1.2023 – Photos by Pat Waldron
The year 2023 has begun and the members of the Big Boys Club in Yorkshire (BBCY) are all doing fine. However, it looks like the older boys have celebrated the new year in a very ‘rocking way’.
Hamish: OK! I wish you a happy new year ….
…. but now I beg you – please, don’t disturb!
This is Sisu who obviously had a hard new year’s eve …. maybe in a Finnish way? 🙂
Luka was also dreaming. I hope his dreams of a better world will be true!
Nobby and Indie took a trip to the Napland together.
The young guys soon thought it was time for some activities even this year.
Indie had found a treasure
I can use this thingie even as a football! 🙂
Come on, Yuma! If you want this thingie – come and get it!
Yuma doesn’t seem to be so interested.
Oh bear, the stupid thing vanished ….
…. well, we can just enjoy each other’s company. Sorry, Mr Gull, of course, we enjoy your company as well!
Luka woke up and thought a ‘sun bath’ would be nice …
…. but decided then to jump into the water for some wet exercises.
I don’t know what this is but Luka likes to play with it.
After his nap with Indie Nobby started gardening.
Finding good gardeners isn’t easy these days so I have to do the job myself!
I’m not so sure what to do with that big hole. Hmm, I must do some brain storming with myself!
Even Yuma was busy gardening.
Everything seems to be OK. It will be thrilling to see what will grow here. How many days do I have to wait until it’s Spring?
My baby Sisu weighs now the respectable 700 kilograms! OK, even a big baby is a baby! 🙂
The white Viking found a nice toy in the water.
Is it eatable?
In the water Sisu doesn’t look so big …. I think his face is just like a young cubbie’s face.
Where’s the ice?
Dear Sisu, I hope there will be snow and ice for you and your friends during this Winter.
Dear Pat, thank you so much for these wonderful photos. They told me this story! 🙂

Thank you very much dear Mervi and Pat.
Best wishes to Luka, Hamish, Sisu, Nobby, Indy and Yuma.
Dear Pat and dear Mervi!
It really looks like the Yorkshire boys had a great party into the New Year…
Some of the photos make it look very much like a hangover amongst the bears, if you didn’t know any better.
But it’s probably just normal bear fatigue in winter.
But whether the bears are chilling, playing in the water or gardening, they make a good impression and that’s the main thing.
I had to grin at the 700 kg giant baby Sisu…

Dear Pat and Mervi
The combination of photos and texts really brings Project Polar 1 alive.
Dear Pat and Mervi!
Thank you for the wonderful pictures. It is touching to see Nobby and Indie sleeping together.
Hugs

Dear Pat and dear Mervi
Yes, New Year’s Eve seems to have been merry with the young bearmen.
I wish all bears a healthy and happy 2023.
I’m happy to see that Nobby has kept gardening as a hobby. He liked to do it in his nursery in Munich.
Thank you for the wonderful pictures and the amusing subtitles!
Hugs,
Anita
