Imagine – Polar bears for peace

20.12.2022 by Mervi

When our planet is threatened by the climate change and would need all help from the world leaders a mad man  decided to start a war against Ukraine supported by other mad men. For what? There are no winners – not in this war or any other war going on in different parts of the world.

Polar bears are a threatened species so I let them share their thoughts with a little help of John Lennon’s lyrics.

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin’ for today

Peace7

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin’ life in peace

Peace8

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can

peace5

No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

Peace4

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

How long can we enjoy Winters with snow? Even in the north the climate is changing rapidly and very soon the snowy Winters will be just a memory …. Do we want that?

NO!

Peace6

If people could live in peace and harmony they would have time to think of what would be best for our planet, too!

Instead of bying unnecessary Christmas gifts maybe you can open your wallet – and your heart – and help the animals in the Ukrainian zoos. Many zoos in Europe are raising funds for them so, please, check their home pages for more information!

This is Smetanka who lives in the Nikolaevsky Zoopark in Ukraine.

All we are saying is GIVE PEACE A CHANCE AND SAVE OUR PLANET!

  1. Dear Mervi!
Thank you for your post, the touching and beautiful collages and for your thoughts on this utopia that John Lennon put into words in “Imagine”.
When I was young, I would have signed every single word of this song, today I think more differentiated: on the one hand/on the other hand…, maybe also a bit more resigned. But I still love this song and John Lennon will always have a place in my heart!
Just two days ago I saw a photo that made me laugh and maybe broadened the view on this Bed In a bit… 😉

    PEACE!

  2. Dear Mervi!
Thank you for this touching article. Like Anke, I also hoped for peace all over the world. I could not imagine a war in Europe. Unfortunately, that is what happened. We support our friends and relatives in Ukraine. They don’t only need the money, the moral support is very important.
    Glory to Ukraine!
    Hugs
    Ludmila

  3. Ludmila – I’m glad you appreciate my moral support. I can only make small financial contributions but I try to engage others to do the same. Small drops make oceans!

Hugs from Mervi who wishes all the best to your relatives and friends in Ukraine!

  4. Dear Mervi,

I fully agree with your thoughts, wishes and hopes.
Although it seems that many people are currently more concerned with their own concerns around Christmas, this is not true. Many people are personally involved, providing housing for refugees and helping to alleviate the suffering of refugees. And we all know that in Ukraine our freedom is also being defended.
But how is this madman in Moscow to be stopped? Like all dictators, he lets his own compatriots, the soldiers die and completely destroy the country he wants to conquer than to admit his error and mistakes and stop the war.

We can only hope and help where we can.
    Thank you for your pleadoyer!

  5. The lyrics of Lohn Lennon’s song “Imagine” are more topical than ever.
War is back in Europe. Unfortunately!
The polar bear collages are enchanting, dear Mervi.

Even if I fear that this will not be the case:
May there soon be peace again for Ukraine and its inhabitants.

    Hugs,
    Anita
