Polarvision Song Contest in Yorkshire

16.11.2022 – Photos by Sheila and Philip Baker

This time the stars of the ‘story’ are Hamish and Luka. They decided to arrange a Polarvision Song Contest 2022. The contest was broadcasted all over the world via the Polar Channel.

Let me introduce the two competitors. Yes, there are only two of them. Hamish and Luka believe they are so superior that it would be unfair to invite others. 🙂

This is Hamish …

…. and this is Luka.

Hamish and Luka chose well known songs but they changed the lyrics to be more suitable for this contest.

The first song is ‘I wanna hold your paw’. I guess everybody remembers this song by Lennon/McCartney.

This song is from the musical ‘Annie get your gun’ but our white fluffy friends changed the title to ‘Annie, put your gun away’.

Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you
Anything you can be I can be greater, Sooner or later I’m greater than you
Any note you can reach I can go higher, I can sing anything higher than you

Salmons are a bear’s best friends. The two legged creatures think diamonds are the best friends but we know better! Diamonds! You can’t even eat them!!

You can leave your fur on. This song title was originally ‘You can leave your hat on’ and the song was a hit sang by Joe Cocker. Hmm, I think the good old Joe sounded almost like a polar bear …. and if my memory serves me right he was born in Yorkshire.

This song needed a special coreography! 🙂

After some brain storming the jury members – Flocke, Tala, Indy, Yuma, Nobby and Sisu – came to the conclusion that both bears were winners. I’m sure that was very wise of them! 🙂

Both Hamish and Luka were satisfied with the jury’s announcement.

Hamis salutes you and promises the contest will be held even next year!

I don’t know which bear this is but the photo is hilarious! 🙂

  1. Brilliant Mervi……sooo funny!
Thanks to Shiela & Philip for yet more super photo’s of our bears here at YWP. Maybe in next year’s Polarvision competition they could sing the ‘Bear Necessities’.

  2. Dear Sheila und Philip!

That’s a song contest I would definitely watch.
Both participants give their all. I can’t see a clear winner. So it is only fair to declare them both winners.
After all, it’s about participation and fun. I hope more will take part next year.
Thank you for the enchanting report from the YWP.

    Amused and enthusiastic greetings,
    Anita

  3. Dear Sheila, Mervi and Philip!
I had a good laugh about this funny post. Like Anita I would definitely watch this song contest. I’m just afraid that my ears would have to get used to the bearish singing skills first…. But luckily you can turn off the sound. In any case, the stage presence was already laid into the cradle of these bears.
These are great pictures of apparently good-humored polar bears.
It was a great idea to put certain songs into the bears’ muzzles. With” You can leave your fur on” it has me however creeped out… Then rather “I wanna hold your paws”!

  4. Dear Mervi, Sheila & Philip
Its a very good idea, to have such
a contest in bear-land too. And as
we can see, both participants gave
their best, to entertain the rest
of the group. Very funny and
    excellent photos, thanks! 🙂
    Greetings
    Chris
