This year the Valentine’s Day was a very special day in the Tiergarten Schönbrunn in Vienna. Nora presented her – and Ranzo’s – baby bear to the visitors for the first time! The media had already chance to meet the sweetie on the previous day but now it was the visitors’ turn.
Nora came out and seemed to be checking that everything was OK.
And then the tiny cubbie appeared following her.
Doesn’t Nora look proud – and with all reason, too! We don’t know yet if the baby is a girl or a boy but one thing’s for sure – he/she is a real sweetie pie.
No doubt this baby will be the visitors’ darling!
’m sure the uncles Aron in Tallinn and Sisu in Ranua are very proud of their little niece or nephew. 🙂
After the months in the den it must have been wonderful for Nora to take a sip of water outdoors ….
…. and after a refreshing drink it was time for a nice bath. We have learnt to see Nora always very white and fluffy so I’m sure she’s been waiting for this opportunity …. 🙂
Although Nora enjoyed her bath very much she kept an eye on her baby all the time.
There were some snacks availabe for the mama and the child.
Even light food can be quite heavy for a tiny cubbie.
A little rest …
… and after that it was time to explore the enclosure.
The world is soooo big!
The baby seems to be looking for a safe place …. …. and he/she found it!
Staying between mama’s paws is the best place in the world!
The baby bear is still very small but I was impressed by the determined steps when he/she walked around in the enclosure.
This cubbie is very special to me because the father is Ranzo – the first polar bear ever born in Finland!
I wish Nora, Ranzo and their baby all the best and, naturally, the same to their keepers!
Dear Jutta! Thank you so much for the permission to publish your photos even in this magazine!
