Yesterday I received very sad news from Finland. My dear friend Mirja – also known as Teddybärenmutti – is dead. I’m still chocked so it’s difficult to find words … but I try.

learnt to know Mirja via the rbb blog and later we met several times in Berlin. From the very first beginning we knew we were real soul mates. Many of you remember the wonderful stories of Knut and Flocke Mirja wrote. It was a great pleasure for me to illustrate them. What happy times they were!
During one of our visits we had a nice chat with Marcus Röbke.

We loved to be in Berlin – no matter what the weather was like!

Everybody who knew Mirja remembers her great sense of humour. Oh, we had so many good laughs when we met.

We even met once in Orsa.

Last time I spoke with Mirja she was very ill but she certainly hadn’t lost her sense of humour. Despite the pain she was keeping an optimistic mind and we even talked about meeting once again in Berlin. Unfortunately our dream will never come true.
I want to think Mirja is with Knut now.

With a heavy heart I must say goodbye to a very dear friend. Mirja is beyond pain and sorrow now but we are here mourning a wonderful person. Me deepest condolences to Risto. I wish him strength knowing how devastated he is after loosing his beloved wife.

Dear Mirja! Thank you so much for all the wonderful stories! Thank you so much for all the laughs! Thank you so much for a fantastic friendship!
