Lynn and Nord played ‘catch me if you can’ – Part 2

24.4.2018 by Mervi & Vesa

As far as we could see Lynn and Nord are getting along just fine although they have somewhat different ‘interests’ for the time being – at least during our visit. 🙂

Nord seems to have an optimistic mind and maybe Lynn will soon feel mercy with him. 🙂

Yesterday I contacted the Copenhagen Zoo and received this information:

‘Lynn and Nord are VERY fond of each other indeed and animal keepers have seen them mate in the stables Saturday morning. We are all crossing fingers that Lynn will someday have cubs. She is a very good polar bear and she acts like a super star in front of the audience, so clearly the staff in Vienna has done a very excellent job in training her.’

The ‘catch me if you can’ games we saw were probably polar beary fore plays …. 🙂

As I already wrote this was the first time we saw Nord and we can only say he’s a very handsome chap.

Even though some black spots (his fur was wet) could be seen he has a wonderfully thick fur – just like all Russian polar bears.

Nord has funny ‘eye brows’ which makes it easy to recognize him.

Nord is definitely a very impressive representative for his species!

It’s no wonder Ranzo was charmed by this beautiful lady – and now Lynn is putting a spell on Nord.

The polar bears in the Copenhagen zoo can be observed from many different angles.

I’m glad to tell all Lynn’s friends that she’s doing fine in her new home.

I think this is a face of a happy polar bear …..

We could have admired Nord and Lynn for hours but they decided it was time for swimming and diving again. Due to the fine weather the zoo was very crowded so this time we didn’t follow them to the tunnel. There were simply too many visitors.

It was time to leave our white, fluffy friends but it was really fantastic to meet these lovelies ‘live’ for the first time! Unfortunately we didn’t see Nöel. Maybe she was inside or maybe she was hiding behind the big rocks in the old enclosure.

Information from the Copenhagen Zoo: ‘At the moment we are slowly introducing the females to each other behind bars, so hopefully all three polar bears will be able to be together in the near future. That is our aim.’

Nord seems to be a very good natured male so hopefully he can cope with the two ladies. We all remember Lars living together with Tosca, Nancy and Katjuscha without problems. I wish Nord, Nöel and Lynn all the best and hope they can live together in harmony!
