The polar bear baby, born on November 7th at the zoo and botanical park of Mulhouse, discovers snow for the first time on 10 February 2017 in Mulhouse.
At first the outside world looks a bit scary but the baby feels safe and secure behind mama’s big paws. 🙂
The parents of the cub are Sesi and Vicks and the baby is only the second polar bear born in captivity in France.
The Mulhouse zoo has created a special enclosure, designed to make animals feel good. And it seems to work fine. In addition to these facilities, there’s a special den where Sesi could give birth and take care of her child without any human contact.
The keepers were able to follow Sesi and her baby through a camera in order to make sure she took good care of her little one. The baby bear, which has not yet a name (a public voting has been announced), is currently in it’s den but should be on exhibit to the public within a few weeks.
Little by little the cubbie got curious and came to meet the keepers.
Oh, there’s some green stuff …..
… and something else, too. Not sure what it is ….
Mama, may I taste that green thingie, too?
Now I know this is called lettuce. Not all polar bears like it but it looks quite nice.
Do you think I will grow as big as my mama if I eat lots of veggies?
OK, I give up now. I’m still a baby bear and can’t eat so much.
The following photos need no comments …. or maybe I should announce a severe cuteness warning? 🙂
