In the morning of the 4th of October the keepers in the Leningrad Zoo in St Petersburg found polar bear Menschikow dead in his den. He hadn’t show any symptoms of an illness so the cause of his death isn’t known yet.
Menschikow was the visitors’ and the keepers’ darling for many years. He was 28 years old.
Menschikow was a real Bid Daddy. He and Uslada had several cubs together.
Uslada (19.11.1987) came to the Zoo Leningrad from the Zoo Kasan in 1993. Menschikov came from the Island “Novaya Zemlya” in 1989.
