The world is a mess for the time being so we need something beautiful to remember from the happy days. I’m sure these photos will bring back wonderful memories which make us feel a little better and a little more optimistic. Maybe better days will come ….
There have been many wonderful moments with our Dream Team but these two occasions always come to my mind when I think of Knuti and TD.
Happy reunion after TD’s vacation in August 2007
We had all been worried about how Knuti would manage during TD’s three weeks long vacation. This was the first time they were separated such a long time. Our bear was a brave boy and did just fine.
I remember so well the day when TD came back. The whole Knutian world was waiting for the first pictures of the reunion.
I had tears in my eyes when I watched the photos of the two together. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one shedding tears.

I never had a chance to see Knuti and TD playing together – except a Knuti show in May 2007. Some autumn mornings TD used to come earlier so he could fool around with Knuti before the working day really started.
These happy mornings also had an abrupt ending but as far as I know they continued to play ‘behind the curtains’.
When I look at the photos I can see a man and a bear totally devoted to each other. What a beautiful sight!

Ich denke, es geht uns allen so beim Anblick dieser Bilder, die zu Tränen rühren über Glück Knuts, als er Thomas nach dessen 3 wöchigem Urlaub wieder sah. Er war einfach glüvkseelig!
Und ja, solche Bilder sind Balsam für unsere Seelen in dieser chaotischen Welt zurzeit.

Nearly two decades have passed since the years when Thomas and Knut reminded the world that magic existed in the care of a man for a Polar Bear.
Those of us who became friends in the Berlin Zoo have had to say many farewells in the years since. But Mervi you have kept us warm and cosy in your wonderful world. Thank you

No one who witnessed these scenes and knows Knut’s story will ever forget them. These were moments of happiness in an increasingly dark world.
Thomas Dörflein and Knut proved that such moments still exist if you go through life with your eyes open.
I too hope for miracles! Unfortunately, the days when wishing still helped are over, but hope dies last..
