Many visitors in Wilhelma must have their favourites among the many animal babies but for me they are all adorable.
First I have very sad news about koalas. On 13 August 2025, the koala cub Jimbelung died at Wilhelma at the age of almost 14 months. The cause of the female cub’s death was a respiratory disease. After undergoing treatment and showing signs of improvement, the symptoms had worsened contrary to expectations. Jimbelung’s half-brother Borobi is still perfectly healthy and well.

It was once on the brink of extinction – but zoos have saved it: The Mesopotamian fallow deer. In mid-July 2025, another female young deer was born at Wilhelma, following on from the previous year’s offspring.
The 10th of August was the International Lion Day. Kajal and Shapur posed nicely when Petra wanted to take a photo of them.
There has been a baby boom among the birds in Wilhelma.

Niara’s kittens are doing fine and eating solid food already.

As far as I know they have no names yet. Of course, it’s not so easy to find nice names to them all.
Kabru is growing and developing well.
He can express himself loud and clear. 🙂

They are simply adorable!

der plötzliche Tod des kleinen Koalas macht natürlich sehr traurig,
aber den vielen anderen Jungtieren geht es gemäß deiner fantastischen Fotos sehr gut.
Sie sind gut gelaunt, neugierig, hungrig und manchmal auch müde, so wie das sein soll.
Das Löwenpaar sieht prachtvoll aus an seinem Ehrentag!

Es ist sehr traurig, dass Koalakind gestorben ist.
Die kleine Geparden sind süß und das Schneeleopardkind wächst schnell.

Danke für ein neues, teilweise trauriges und teils sehr niedliches Update aus der Wilhelma.
Wie traurig, dass der kleine weibliche Koala trotz aller Bemühungen nicht wieder gesund geworden ist. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, wie schrecklich das für die beteiligten Zoomitarbeiter war. Zum Glück geht es dem Halbbruder gut und das bleibt hoffentlich auch so!
Die Löwen sehen super aus – und scheinen es zu wissen. Es geht mir immer ans Herz, wenn Katzen, groß oder klein, ihre Zuneigung zeigen und schmusen wollen.
Eulen haben faszinierende Augen, so auch schon die Küken der Schneeeulen. Die Farbe ist toll!
Die Geparden Minis und der kleine Schneeleopard sind hier natürlich die Stars, so flauschig und zauberhaft sie sind und aussehen.
