This time I want to show you some photos of Knut enjoying the Spring in the year 2008.
In this photo it looks like our polar bear friend is making plans for the gardening season.
Something had to be done to make the enclosure look presentable and cosy!
Even the jute sack needed a wash ….
As we all remember Knut really made his enclosure greener by moving plants!
Maybe a nice swimming tour after all the work?

Of course, Knut inspired me to make a couple of collages of him doing the ‘Frühjahrsputz’.

The calender is still part of my kitchen decoration with this very pic as cover.

It’s always touching to look at these wonderful pictures and collages and remember that time. Back then, Berlin Zoo was a good place with lots of great animals, very dedicated and loving keepers and with Knut, this sweetie pie, who opened the hearts of many people and drew them from all over the world to Berlin, where they became friends.
Yes ‘ Those were the days my friend, We thought they’d never end’ Unfortunately they did end and everything has changed, not for the better! All that remains are wonderful memories. Thank you for taking us along the memory lane!

Knut als “Frühjahrsputzer” ist der Hit ! 😀
“Even the jute sack needed a wash ….” so true, Dumba.
Nach getaner “Gartenarbeit” war der “Frühjahrsputz” angesagt und der geliebte Jutesack wurde dabei nicht vergessen… Und zum guten Schluß konnte sich Knut, nach einem reinigenden Bad im Pool, die Frühjahrssonne auf den Pelz scheinen lassen…🐻❄️👌🌞😊

I was only able to make a few trips to see Knut in his early years and did not attend a birthday party until he was already 3.
In those days I relied on the computer in the Library to read the various blogs. I had only some paper copies of the photos.
Sadly I did not get a decent phone until much later.
Now there are no Polar Bears in Berlin Zoo and most of the keepers and visitors I knew have gone.
But in those years I was still “only” in my 50s now I will soon be 70.
Knut lives on in my heart but also as a companion.
